Good catch my your body(the pain) and your doctors. I have seen too many LCA blockages go the other way. Enjoy your new lease on life.

I am so glad! You can probably get diet advice from your doctor, a nutritionist, or the Church Health Center has classes on nutrition. I changed to the Mediterranean diet years ago -- pretty much! -- and my heart doc referred me to the South Beach diet books, which were written by a renowned cardiologist, so it's good, scientific advice.

Life can be full of scary moments with your heart issue being one of the most frightening. You are so fortunate and blessed to have caught it just in time while so many others simply do not. Live thankfully - live healthy - eliminate stress - and remember that everything seems to be just fine until very suddenly it isn't. Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

RE: NTR - Mods Please Allow
Same thing happened to me in 2000. 99% blockage. Stent installed. Then 2nd stent about 6 years later, and a 3rd about 7 years later. All in different places. It's important that you don't ignore the warning signs your body gives you. Don't be afraid to go to the doctor and tell them what you are experiencing. Modern medicine has progressed so far that what in the past called for bypass surgery, now can be done almost on a out patient basis.

My dad and mom both had bypass around 60 years old, and both lived to be about 80+ years old. So, it is not uncommon and definitely runs in your genes. Glad you got it taken care of in time.

Go Tigers!!!! This is going to be a great year for Tiger sports and I would hate to miss it.

It was God's plan for me to be there. They put in a stint and i am resting comfortably. Please guys , take care of yourself for you and your family's sake!

You have been granted a great gift. God let you hit the restart button. You can wake up every day and ask Him who He wants you to be. Be Blessed

21-17 is right about the South Beach diet. I followed it closely the first few years after my event, and it became sort of habit. I still splurge occasionally, and eat the wrong foods, but not often. Diet, a little physical training, losing a few pounds, learning to cope with stress, and you can do okay, Rufus. I have made it 15 years so far, and still doing ok. Good luck!

04-cheers

RE: NTR - Mods Please Allow
glad to hear that you caught this!
One of my cousins went through the same thing very recently...she was in her late 30's.
About 2 years after a stent...she just gave birth to another little girl, and she is still alive to tell about it.
Thanks for sharing this...we get caught up too often in things that just aren't really important when it all comes down to it.
Life is worth celebrating...and I am very happy for you.

Not only appreciate life, but improve your diets, and get more exercise. Nowadays, there is no excuse not to get out in the great outdoors in Memphis, recreational attractions have never been more abundant. Control what you can and appreciate every moment you still have.

I'm with you on that. For me it's congestive heart failure at 37 and a stent last year at 40. And that's just the heart problems.

For me it was overworking so I would tell anyone to pace themselves.
