ESPNU?!?!
Disappointed the game is not on ESPN or ESPN2. Having it on Tuesday is bad enough. Having it on ESPNU adds to the insult.

Another reason to despise ESPN.

RE: ESPNU?!?!
Yeah makes no sense, i could see it being on ESPN U if the broncos werent going to win the west and it was just a meaningless game but it was announced AFTER the stakes were already set for WMU, makes no sense.......

ESPNU isnt covered by all cable packages. For instance, I have sling TV but I dont get ESPN U unless I buy a separate package.

Ill find a stream on reddit somewhere tho, so its no big deal.

RE: ESPNU?!?!
Akron & Ohio is on ESPN+. That's bad. Why play on Tuesday?!

And yes, we're on ESPNU due to College Basketball Tournaments. Sucks.

I would have at least been OK with them being forced to sell off to CBS Sports in situations like these, and putting the lesser game (Akron vs Ohio) in ESPNU.

You know what the MAC should do for these games? Partner with Youtube and show the games for free.

I imagine Youtube wouldn't want to pay as much as ESPN has. MAC football isn't sexy programming.

RE: ESPNU?!?!
Lot of people get ESPNU. A lot of the kinds of people that would watch Western Michigan vs Northern Illinois have a sports package that gets them ESPNU. Plus, 10-15 years ago, you weren't able to watch a MAC vs MAC game unless you went to the game in person. People saw the MAC destroyed out-of-conference by the Big 10 then didn't see them again till bowl season. That was it.

That being said, I think Thanksgiving week games should be on Friday. People on Friday looking for something to do on their day off more willing to go to a football game, plus not competing w/ the P5 on Saturday.

Also, not sure where it says 'College Football must be played on a Saturday.' You guys got to stop living in your fantasyland where Saturday's the only day college football can be played on. 1/3 of the NFL plays during the week now. Lot of high schools play on Saturdays. Lot of college games played during the week from other conferences.

I have to admit, I've come around to liking "MACtion" on Tuesday and Wednesdays. Detroit sports radio would rarely mention MAC games. Now that the games are being played nationally, it's getting some interest. This year in particular, nearly every game has come down to wire. I think people are realizing these games are exciting to watch especially when you don't have many other options.

I've noticed the Big Sky Conference now has a channel on Pluto TV -- which is completely free. I can see the MAC doing something similar down the road. I would continue to showcase MACtion football on ESPN but many of the Olympic sports on MAC tv.

RE: ESPNU?!?!
The MAC should have insisted that games with championship implications be aired on either ESPN or ESPN2.

To have this game dropped to ESPNU for a meaningless pre-season basketball game, that is little more than an exhibition, is outrageous and insulting.

Weeknight football games are here to stay, unfortunately (bad for the players, the band, the cheer and dance teams, the students, alumni and the greater Kalamazoo Community, but good for lazy couch potatoes), but at least demand our league's top games receive the respect they deserve.

Air championship games on ESPN or ESPN2!!

Have the ratings for ESPNU gone up for the MAC games? I've never seen a game for ESPNU that had good ratings, even for P5 teams. Because most people don't have ESPNU. If you go into a bar with 30 TVs, none of them will have ESPNU on. If it can't at least be on ESPN2, then the MAC is getting screwed.
