Exclamation This season's record
Our recruiting over the last 3 years has been 80th, 56th, 61 which is good for us, but not great. I understand the undefeated cries and I hope we are, but, unless we can replace Henderson, Have a greatly improved defense and White becomes a much more dynamic, big play qb, I just can't see it. Maybe there is a superstar or 2 hiding in the mix.

I still hope for 12-0 but my "if I had to bet" record would be 8-4 to 10-2, so I say 9-3.

Mississippi (Home) L (27-21) 0-1
For the last 3 years Mississippi's recruiting classes ranked 32, 31, 5
On paper there is no way we should win, but Mississippi is still falling apart and hasn't started their rebuild yet and its at home and its the first game and its them, but I still think we lose. I think there is just too much over-confidence on our part about the game.

Southern University (Home) W (72-13) 1-1
194 in 2016, They don't even get a recruiting rank some years

South Alabama (Away) W (52-34) 2-1
115, 116, 87 Last year they beat North Carolina, Texas Tech and Alabama, oh wait, I mean Coastal Carolina, Texas State and Alabama State. We let them score way too many points here last year, I hope our defense is better.

Navy (Home) W (59-17) 3-1
105, 88, 91 Remember that game last year? No way that happens again

Louisiana Monroe (Away) W (49-45) 4-1
118, 102, 124 They were 6-6 last year. I don't think this will be easy.

Temple (Away) W (31-28) 5-1
82, 119, 59 Temple went 8-4 last year. They return their quarterback and most of their defense. This one will show how tough our defense is.

Tulane (Home) W (55-17) 6-1
70, 112, 97 I remember that rainy, crappy, disappointment of a game last year. At least we licked our wounds in the quarter.

Tulsa (Away) W (42-0) 7-1
97, 85, 95 After going 3-9 last year and last place in their division, there is no reason to think they are any better.

SMU (Home) W (35-31) 8-1
87, 80, 75 They have experience returning on both sides and a Texas transfer for qb. Home field gives us the win.

Houston (Away) L (58-48) 8-2
73, 69, 36 We've beat Houston 3 times in a row and arguably shouldn't have twice. I just don't see 4 in a row.

USF (Away) L (28-27) 8-3
65, 76, 66 USF went 7-0 last year before their qb went down. He's back and if he's still standing when we get there, we lose.

Cincinnati (Home) W (52-42) 9-3
47, 63, 74 Cincinnati looks good on paper and they did win 11 games last year. But by the last game of the season everything changes.

RE: This season's record
1 thing is for sure: we're going to get every one's best shot. That includes Mississippily even though they are trying to down play the game. They WANT to beat us!

Additionally, MEMPHIS is favored over Mississippily by 6.

Agree with the above, except I think we lose to Temple and beat Houston.

We will beat Ole Miss, I'm calling it now and I think Taylor and Coxie both have career games and White plays flawlessly.

I think we go 10-2 with losses to Temple and Houston

Expectations are higher and we have a crappy schedule. Most people would probably be disappointed.
*Go 8-4 in regular season and lose bowl game = very disappointing
*Go 8-4 in regular season and win bowl game = slightly disappointing
*Go 9-3 in regular season and lose bowl game = slightly disappointing
*Go 9-3 in regular season and win bowl game = good year

If a take it to the house player to replace Henderson doesn't develop and if Brady is not incredibly improved on his deep threat I expect 7-5. If some playmakers develop I think 9-3 is certainly feasible.

OM is a tough one to call. If we jump on them early they will pack it in. If it's a close game then it will be a tough one to win. I think they will have the advantage in the trenches. They have a lot of 4 star linemen on their roster and their D-Line will be strong.

P. Taylor can't be brought down. That gives us the ground game advantage!

Brady hurt himself early in the season...was playing on a bad wheel.
It affected his ability to run, and plant his feet before he threw.
He was still our best option to win...so he played more than the other QBs.
I think he has a fine season.....and we wipe the floor with Ole Prius...and win a squeaker over Houston.
Temple is too soon to call, as they have a new coaching staff.

RE: This season's record
I don’t know. I am skeptical about White— and even more skeptical about Patterson. His leg could have won us two extra games last year, at least. We should have a winning record based on talent alone against this schedule. I predict we start out undefeated, then slide on the road against Houston and USF. Road games against LA Monroe and Temple won’t be cakewalks. We will be unbeaten at the Liberty Bowl.

RE: This season's record
I’ll say 8-4. We always over hype preseason. Henderson was a generational talent and Brady folds under pressure. Good analysis up top.
Does that assume we don’t make the Conference Champ game?
Houston, Temple, Cincy & USF are all games that will be tough and no shame in losing.
Tulane & Navy & Ole Piss would be shameful if we lost, but we’ve done it before...too often in fact.
I really want to win a bowl game. Still have a bad taste in my mouth after that WF loss....
I want to be pleasantly surprised so I tend to set my expectations lower....
This undefeated crap is not realistic with our defense.....let’s see some real major defensive improvement first before wasting our breath on unrealistic pressure on our team....
Win the first one and win the last one and I’ll be happy with this team.
I listened to the full press conference and I love Norvell’s attitude and I’m willing to let Brady out of my doghouse if he proves it against Ole Miss and a good defense.
Go Tigers!

That’s the thing. We can’t guarantee an “almost” game.
La-Monroe, Navy, and Tulane can’t be guaranteed because until this team shows up on the field week in and week out, we don’t know what we have besides what’s on paper.

That’s why Norvell hammered leadership in the presser. He said the word leader 20 times. That’s an intangible that the team missed out on last year with so few seniors. How many close games did the team lose last year? How much was kicking and special teams, a huge factor? 3 losses?
How often did a DB (usually a safety but sometimes our best Corner) blow an assignment leading to a score that allowed a team to stick around vs get blown out?
Not to sound negative but a strong locker room and a few plays and last years team might have won those close/almost games....this year will be no different, and until the identity of this team is demonstrated, we are all guessing.....

Now, four of those games should be gimme’s and the other two nice spreads...

And we have so much upside and potential to put it all together....only one more month away!

I hear all of you guys.

And I want every U. Memphis team to win every game at every sport.

But not quite ready to be disappointed on the season with 8-4. Individual disappointments yes but just not there yet, in spite of 9.5 over under on wins.

It would be nice to win another bowl game. The last two were heartbreakers.

Injury bug/plague aside, I don't see us going any worse than 9-3.

12-0 is very much on the table, and if we do lose, it'll be against either South Florida or Houston, or both. Ole Miss, come on man. No.
