He's right Stammers, you've showed ignorance for a long time here. How about not derailing another thread? I say over on the 9.5 wins.

It would take a perfect situation and I am not sure that will happen. Hint: USC is NOT it.
Norvell has coached in the PAC conference...so he is familiar with the lay of the land.
At a school with some tradition like a USC...he would do the same as he is doing here... He'd kill it.
Maybe not year one, but once he had the kinds of athletes he is looking for in his offense...oh hell yeah he would.
That being said...he'd have to have a REALLY good candidate as a defensive coordinator walking in to that situation...as his "just outscore them" mentality wouldn't be as welcome at USC as it is here in the non power 5.
Norvell was NOT a HC in the PAC. Yes, he'd have success there, but there would be 100x the pressure. The level of expectations at U$C vs Memphis is meteoric, the level of pay... Clay Helton made $2.6 million in 2016, that number does sound familiar.
He sees what a moderately successful Coach Fuente is getting at VA Tech. One season, marred by injuries and young players and everyone there wants him fired.
I didn't say he was an HC in the PAC...I said he coached there.
He recruited there. (Which is why Arizona State took such a hit when he left...along with several other coaches who left with him...I believe Norvell took the best recruiters from ASU with him).
Fuente may have hit his ceiling at VT.
Injuries are a part of the game...but there are few coaches who have been able to use that excuse to justify keeping their jobs.
VT got Fuente expecting him to help them take that next step...back to being elite as they were for a short time, and for whatever reason, it hasn't happened...yet.
I'll never understand Fuente taking that job. He should have held out for a better one. They are crazy about football and playing in a major conference, but it isn't the easiest area to recruit, they aren't a marquee program, and they've only had success with one coach.
If the school was located in the middle of a recruiting hotbed; a big name that had recently fallen on hard times, Fuente could have gotten the recruiting boost he desperately needs, because he isn't great at it.
Fuente is facing a string of transfers from VT,,,his goose may be cooked soon enough.

Transfers GENERALLY don’t affect a football program like they do basketball. I do agree on recruiting but he always seemed to find the gems. Lynch and Miller among others could have played anywhere.

Neither of you like getting called out when you say dumb stuff. I get it.

While I do understand why he took the job, I (like most people) did not appreciate how he did it. If he flames out at VT, I won't be too upset.
