RE: Congrats App State!
It has been an incredible and improbable run. The fanbase thought we could compete at the FBS level, but not this quickly.

Hopefully we can continue representing the SBC well and finally getting a P5 win or two after SO many close calls.

I think that's what bothered me about a quote attributed to Satterfied, "What else is there to accomplish at Appalachian State?"

Well, beating Penn State, Tennessee, and Wake Forest were good places to start. I have a feeling that's what Drink was alluding to when saying he doesn't just want to maintain, he wants to do it better than it's been done.

Time will tell.

If Coach Drink maintains his personal record vs the Tar Holes, he will have accomplished something Satterfield was not able to do as a head coach.

A small group of us had been advocating for a move up since the 80's. Unfortunately administrations and AD's perfectly happy in the small time world of 1-AA/FCS convinced most of our fans it couldn't be done. After 9-1-07 more people began to think maybe these guys are right. Yea, I'm enjoying that whole last laugh thing. 03-nerner

I'm new enough of a fan that I cant speak on the 80s and such. But I just feel our current success in FBS wouldn't have been accomplished without the success of 05-07 years in FCS. The Building of the fan base, to revenue, to national recognition, and everything in between that was brought on by the 3-peat years was needed before a successful FBS transition.

There's an obvious correlation with App/GS regarding their FCS success to success in FBS in this limited time as say Texas State(sorry guys, best example I could think of) with less FCS football history and relation to their current struggles in FBS in their limited time.

Just feel our timing with the move up could not have been any better.
