We need an ACC vs Big Ten Lambert Challenge
I’m probably alone in this opinion but I think it would be great if the ACC and Big Ten would start a Lambert Cup Challenge between the 3 Northeastern members of each league.

Each year Penn St, Rutgers, and Maryland would play BC, Pitt, or Cuse on a rotating base where each school would host and visit each of the Northeastern schools from the other league once in a 6 year cycle.

Each season the league to win the most games would be declared the winner. This would help preserve some of the rivalries from the Northeastern independent days (yes, I know Maryland wasn’t an eastern independent but they played a lot of eastern independents)

Would this be a prelude to a new "eastern" conference?

No, that ship sailed a few decades ago. Just a friendly series between old foes

Penn State would want all the games in the series at home

Probably!

Seriously, this would be a good idea - even if Penn State would win it most of the time.

This made me laugh for old time sake. We can leave it to Pitt to tell Penn State to pound sand, again for old time sake :-)

I think this can happen but not as an organized challenge.

Rutgers has BC, Syracuse and Temple on our schedule in the upcoming years. Penn State has the last of its games against Pitt, a series against Temple and a series against WVU.

It would be nice to happen but with only 3 OOC games, hard to organize

The Lambert Trophy is still awarded. Rutgers won it during our first year in the Big 10 (2014).

RE: We need an ACC vs Big Ten Lambert Challenge
With 3 OOC slots for Big Ten schools and 4 for ACC schools it would be wise for the Big Ten schools to play at least 1 Northeastern school OOC and for the ACC 2 or more of possible.

Penn St probably stymies any formal arrangement as they consider themselves superior to all the NE ACC schools and wouldn’t want to limit themselves with long term series when they could get more high profile national opponents.

Maybe a Kickoff Game every year in... DC? Philly? NYC? NFL isn’t playing Labor Day weekend yet. I don’t think the schools are going to agree to an inter-conference rotation, so the Kickoff Game would have to be brokered by a third party.

That’s not a bad idea—whatever they are calling the new Meadowlands would be ideal. The site might even be able to lure some non-NE teams like ND to the classic, especially if they get to play Penn St.

Had a similar idea with Big Eight teams in Arrowhead or STL, but I assume the stadium operators have already run the numbers and found it non-feasible. Maybe a write-in campaign?

They could play it in the Meadowlands and call it the Kick-Off Classic! 02-13-banana

I’d really like to see Kansas vs Missouri be an annual neutral site game at Arrowhead but Kansas is struggling and a 10th P5 game is probably more than their woe-some program could bare.

Nebraska vs Oklahoma needs to come back too but at campus sites.

Chiefs would do it in a heartbeat. Schools got to agree on it.

No games need to be at neutral sites other than Red River Shootout, Army-Navy, and maybe WLOCP.

Neutral site games are often sterile.

Wrong.

Neutral site action is embedded in the pageantry of college football.

I mean I appreciate the complement, but it's true.

Go way back in the dusty old books and you'll find neutral site games.
