RE: 2019 Football Season
Should be a fun team to watch. Going through the roster I noticed Crum stuck around. I wonder if they'll think about trying to redshirt him this year. Barring serious injury to Barrett you shouldn't have a hard time playing your backup QB in 4 or fewer games. Probably would've qualified for a redshirt last year if they didn't have him as the holder on PATs.

RE: 2019 Football Season
All I know is that there is a lot more talent and size on the roster than has been in many years, so they should have a nice year this year. I have no idea on win & loss prediction as the MAC is so tight from team to team and there has been some coaching turnover from last year.
Here is the link to the updated roster: https://kentstatesports.com/roster.aspx?...t=position
Should be interesting to see what the depth chart looks like from last season to the 1st game this season.

RE: 2019 Football Season
nly the homecoming game versus BG looks like an easy win. All other games will be difficult, including a very good FCS opponent, Kennesaw State.
I have been screaming 6-6 in 2019, as I see this as the year we start to distance ourselves from the damage done during the Haynes years. We finally have legit FBS talent at most every position (dare I say, every?).
However I think 6-6 is the very best-case scenario given our schedule. The key will be the Akron-OU-Miami stretch when we get into the meat of MAC play in October. 4-8 seems more realistic, but we could surpass that if we can win some close games that we've tended to lose in so many creative ways over the years. No matter the outcome, we'll be a fun team to watch.

Very nervous about the Auburn game the pre season rankings for Defensive Lines in the SEC.
3-LSU
2-Bama
1-AUBURN
Hopefully no season ending injuries after this game. Looking at future schedules I have come to the conclusion that going to a Bowl Game is not a priority for the AD.Realize Power 5 money games are important how ever this schedule is made by a person who's first priority is $$$
and not improving the program.
Opening Games:
2020
Arkansas
2021
Texas A&M
2022
Georgia

Well when the highest paid AD in the conference with the lowest paid coaches wants to travel why have a travel agent when you could just schedule a game and travel on our dime? Want to check out Bama? Check!
Arizona? Sure thing! Anyone up for Clemson? Been there and done that! Keep hanging these kids out with the guaranteed paydays (and guaranteed Ls) and keep the fingers crossed the kids don’t get seriously hurt prior to conference games. I guess we won’t see any FBS teams coming to Dix with our OOC schedule anytime soon if he came take 3 of 4 OOC games to wherever he wants to visit and then get one FCS team at home. And if you are going to schedule an FCS team don’t make it a playoff team. Yeah you should beat them, but the difference between low FBS and high FCS is the depth due to lesser scholarships. There’s talent just not deep though.

RE: 2019 Football Season
Here's an article from Allen Moff of the Record Courier, with some updates from fall camp: https://www.record-courier.com/sports/20...camp-opens
At the bottom of the article, I noticed that 7 players who could have returned for this season didn't.
Wide receivers Trey Harrell and D’J Edwards (transfer from Purdue), offensive linemen Mike Marinelli and Chase Van Hoef, linebacker Dalton Hicks, and running backs Justin Rankin and Myles Washington.
All were Haynes holdovers, except for D'J Edwards.

Wish these young men the best, but happy Lewis and staff will have a chance to upgrade

RE: 2019 Football Season
I would say my biggest concern is probably the o-line. Hoping to see a lot of improvement from last year. That and the annual hope to avoid major injuries during the brutal early schedule.

I think 1-3 in OOC schedule and a hope for .500 in MAC would be good progress for year 2. 5-7 overall would be great.

RE: 2019 Football Season
I think this season will be dependent on Barrett's accuracy. Last year and in the spring game he missed a bunch of wide open targets. I hope the issue is fixed early on and we see why he was a 4 star recruit. I am the forever optimistic so I am saying this team goes 7-5 and they go bowling.

Does anyone know what time of the year they update the roster (online) to show the weight changes from players. It will be interesting just to see how much people have grown this year.

Arizona State names a 4 star true freshman as their starting quarterback. Hopefully the defense can get into his head early and our offense can gets some points on the board to put more pressure on him
And then finish the game and #FlytheFlag!!!

His backup is also a true freshman. I'm sure we'll see both in the game. Certainly makes things more interesting but I still see an L.

RE: 2019 Football Season
FWIW, ESPN is predicting we have a 50% chance or better versus just 3 of our opponents: Kennesaw State, Bowling Green and Buffalo. Beyond that, the Ball State, Miami and Akron games are essentially tossups (47-49% chance).
The Buffalo game surprises me, even though they've lost a lot of talent and have QB questions. The Akron prediction really surprises me, but I suppose they're getting the edge because the game's at the money pit in Akron.

Acknowledging that these predictions are pretty much fodder for passing time until the season begins, but something doesn't jive here. Supposedly for the past two years, the Flashes have had the fourth or fifth rated recruiting classes. But still, they are viewed as the door mat in the league. If the Flashes end up .500 (or better), I will not be surprised.

True last 2 recruiting classes under Coach Lewis and his staff have been an improvement over previous years. Still have a way go for this team to have the depth 12 game season. Also the schools that were out recruiting us in the past have more talent top to bottom on their team.

respect (and the favorite designation) won’t come until they win a few games.
