RE: 2019 Football Season
We will see about golf. Hasn’t been any transition until recently and we are just about to start our first season without Herb Page being around. Basketball works but when they play 3 money games and lose nobody really cares since they will be competitive to dominant in 8 other non-conference games. Football is a different animal. You are competing with 150 schools not 350. If basketball ranks 100th we feel pretty good. If football is 100th it’s ho hum. We don’t get credit for beating Prairie View and we wouldn’t schedule a D3 school.

I suspect Proud Pilot is right about JN with regard to his bonus. I would be willing to bet he is doing exactly what has been asked of him by his bosses. We might not like it as fans but that’s the way it goes.

RE: 2019 Football Season
Nobody is happy with Hoops being ranked 100. We would be ecstatic if football was ranked 100. Mens basketball wins more games in a year than football does in 5 years. Basketball does get a tuneup game. Just like football schedules a D2 game. BTW, good luck beating that D2 team. Flashfast might not be fast enough.

If I was the AD I would schedule 4 money games. Until football drops to D2 they need to take as many money games as possible.

Brilliant! They play 3x as many games as the football team, they play several “tuneup games”, football never schedules a D2 game and the team they are playing is pretty damn good. Other than that it sounds about right. BTW, the Flashfast crew would love to schedule the powerhouses like Hiram, Concord, Stetson and Purdue Fort Wayne but they take the payday beat down games to enable the basketball team to play those tuneup games and pretty much guarantee 20 wins every year. Keep up the good work.03-phew

Auburn game this Saturday will go a long way in determining our season. I am fearful that the size advantage and physical skill set of this Auburn team will result in Bowling Green having a major advantage the next week. Kent State needs these big money to provide funding for the basketball arena up grades and the new volleyball facility.

RE: 2019 Football Season
Volleyball (and basketball) practice facility opened last week. I think it's paid for. (There's a photo of the facility and a link to a story from last year on it on my blog at http://wbbflashes.com.)

is university banking money from these big games for projects like upgrading the MACC? Or just using it to keep the department afloat?

Auburn coach said he wished the game started at Noon instead of 6PM so he would have 6 more hours to prepare for his next opponent. I’d love to see Kent make him pay for that but I doubt it can happen.

I think it was a dig at Nick Saban after he complained about his noon start time. I didn't see it as a knock on Kent.

False. They scheduled a field hockey game at 9 and they're worried football won't be done.
