Memphis Board / USM Talk
Made a thread over there a while back and noticed there is still some USM talk going on over there. Some good and some bad. If bored take a look...and/or give em hell.

RE: Memphis Board / USM Talk
Those “nobody cares about USM” people are either teenagers or full of sh*t, as illustrated by the multiple folks who said they would like the games to resume.

I kinda had to laugh at the guy who called us “so bad” in football right now. That 6-6 we just wandered through would have been one of their better seasons over the past 50 years even with the run they’re on now. In 17 years sharing a conference with us, they only had 4 winning seasons, ffs.

Regardless, one thing we have going for us is folks on a message board won’t be making the decision. I really think we have more support where it counts than anyone lets on. McGillis hanging out at the AAC basketball tourney just ahead of the Big 12’s then-impending announcement they were staying pat was a pretty significant actual occurrence amongst all the people running around just speculating out of their behinds at the time.

With media rights evolving away from cable households to streaming subscriptions, name recognition and fan base is now becoming more important than being in a major population center. As I’ve said before, it’s says something positive about our relative value when the NFL Network is putting us on TV as many times as they are this season, especially when we didn’t even play in a bowl last year.

History says uneven divisions within a conference never lasts very long. All we gotta do is be the tallest midget when the time comes.

We have zero connections with anyone in the AAC. Bennett doesn’t know any AAC presidents and ECU’s AD isn’t gonna vouch for us. Heck, even when the schools were in our conference, we barely had a relationship with any of them.

Exactly. I've been thinking the same thing. And not too much has changed since then. We are actually in better position now than we were then.
