RE: Why did the American Athletic Conference cave to UConn
It was a decent / fair settlement for a G5 / P6 Conference and it's members. The AAC got its $10 million for year two, plus 70% of the $10 million for the third year, plus 4 games with UConn's major sports programs to end the relationship, and UConn will still be in the conference this year. On top of that the conference got $2.5 million up front, kept around $5 million of UConn's 2018-19 payout, and will keep UConn's revenue from next year and their BB credits. By the time UConn leaves the AAC will have a good chunk of it's money up front and has a year to look for UConn's replacement if it replaces UConn at all. With the exit contract signed the AAC is free to explore all of its options publicly if it wants to without potential lawsuits from UConn over its shoulder going forward, Though I wouldn't be surprised to see UConn welching on the last $6 or $7 million down the road. Hope Aresco has the legal fees for any future potential litigation in the contract and additional punitive costs if UConn decides to go it's sue happy way down the road. 04-jawdrop 04-jawdrop 04-jawdrop 05-stirthepot 05-stirthepot 05-stirthepot 03-nutkick 03-nutkick 03-nutkick 04-cheers
