Most people on the east coast aren’t going to pick a random Pac12 game over and SEC or Big Ten game anyway. Why not just appeal to your own fans that are actually coming to games and try and lock down the evening and late night time slots when you are the only thing in TV?

I’d be more likely to watch Arizona St/Utah at 10:00 pm than I would be 12:00pm

But, you might watch Arizona State @ Utah over:
- Iowa @ Indiana
- Florida @ Vanderbilt
- Kansas @ West Virginia

That's what the PAC 12 would be shooting for.

You will still have Stanford @ Oregon or Colorado @ USC in the primetime and Cal @ Washington or Washington State @ Arizona at 10pm ET.

Sure it’s possible but the payoff in marginal ad revenue isn’t worth it to screw over your own fans. They’d be better off having 3 late slots (Fox, ESPN, ESPN2) and the rest at 4 or 7 est

A 10am kickoff in Salt Lake City or Boulder, plus Tuscon and Tempe in November, would have pleasant weather and great atmosphere. Fans would enjoy an occasional early kickoff. Utah's coach recently stated that he would prefer the 10am start time.

Because California is all you have. The rest of the west coast, Pac-12 states are sparsely populated. It's not enough people. At least not enough to compete with the other P5 conferences

California has 40 million people. Arizona and Washington have 7 million with Colorado being close to 6 million. Oregon has 4 million, Utah and Nevada (big alumni state) have 3 million each. Except for California, those are fast growing states.

Unlike the ACC, the Pac-12 controls their entire region with the Big XII being the closest P5 and a time zone away. They control the L.A., Bay Area, Phoenix, Seattle, Denver, Portland and Salt Lake markets with San Diego, Sacramento and Las Vegas as big alumni/fans markets.

As it has been discussed multiple times on this board, the Pac-12 issues are mostly cultural. It’s a West Coast thing. They’re not as passionate about college sports as other parts of the nation. It’s always been that way and it will not change anytime soon.

It is more evidence of the idiot that Larry Scott is. A really dumb idea, that would be voluntary. There are 75 million people living in the western region of the country, including Alaska and Hawaii. This is the region of the country where the primary viewers of Pac-12 football live. The problem is, many of the people living in the western region of the country do not get the Pac-12 Network. There are literally two Pac-12 games per week that are not seen because of the incompetent operation of the network by Scott.

Winning and a Pac-12 network that is available everywhere is the answer to the Pac-12 problems. A 9 a.m. game does nothing to address those issues. The Pac-12 is playing a good non-conference schedule against power conference schools in 2019:

Northwestern at Stanford
Oregon vs. Auburn (Arlington, TX)
Nebraska at Colorado
Texas Tech at Arizona
Arizona State at Michigan State
Oklahoma at UCLA
California at Mississippi
USC at Notre Dame
Notre Dame at Stanford

Winning these games are more important than some worthless 9 a.m. game that does nothing for the Pac-12.

I'll watch early PAC12 games
