I cant help but wonder if something may have happened that spurred on this plea. Might have already gotten herself in trouble.

They had enough evidence to give her the death penalty. The REAL phone call had Lorenzen calling out the ex wife name right before they shot him. They didn't want to release that part until the trial to close the case shut.
