It's hard not to feel for Harrison Williams - 12 points shy of going to the World Championships.

On Friday, August 9, at 3:05 CDT, Ari Ince , the USA National Champion, will compete in the javelin at the Pan American Games.
The field event coverage (ESPNU) has been excellent so far.

Unfortunately, Natan Rivera came into the competition with a slight injury, and reinjured himself on the first vault. Indoor season won't be until January, so he should be ready by then.

I would think she's a near lock to compete in the World Championships now (which are in Doha, Qatar 9/28 thru 10/6). But this is USA Track and Field we're talking about so you never know.
Congrats to her. I wonder when our last USA champion was in track and field? I'm pretty sure we had a few in the 90's on the women's side. Maybe something since then but I don't know for sure.
She will be competing at Worlds since she has the qualifying mark of 61.50 (she's thrown 63.54, which places her at #15 in the world right now).
Kara Winger, who finished 2nd today, will also be at Worlds (previous qualifying mark).
Ari's best throw today in Doha ( 60.44 meters) placed her 8th in her qualification round group, and 15th overall ... just 0.57 meters short of being in the Top 12 who qualified for the finals.
(Winger, 62.13 meters, was 7th overall in the qualification round.)
