Boring is in the eye of the beholder. I think the NFL is boring but they seem to be developing a following.
The SEC will add a sport if they need a filler for the SECN. With mens and womens teams, soccer is Title IX friendly. I'm not sure it is the most economical way to add filler for the network.
Excuse me if I don’t get too excited about our women being the best in the world at any sport. And I say that as a father with three daughters that all played volleyball, basketball, softball and tennis.
There is almost no comparison between the joke that is MLS and The Premier League, Serie A League or even The Bundesliga.
The SEC is counting too much on the next generation following college football like their grandparents and parents have. I believe the bubbas at state u about anywhere in The SEC are for the most part reluctant to push soccer.
Not sure if we’ll see a change in the next decade but by 2042, the US will be less than 50% Caucasian. It going to be interesting watching how The SEC handles change.

Dortmund defeated Liverpool in front of over 40,000 fans on July 19th.
They probably had planned for Pulisic to be playing for Dortmund along side Gia Rayna or perhaps against him for Liverpool. Rumors from last fall had Pulisic joining The Reds but they could never come to terms so he signed with Chelsea.
I am excited to see what how Rayna develops. If he’s the player his Dad was the USMNT will have a couple of quality players for a few seasons with Pulisic and Rayna.

Remember when N. Korea paid Chinese people to dress up in N. Korea colors and cheer for them?

He’s already a good player. His Mom forces him to play with the older guys to further develop his game. The last few years he has been attending the Real Madrid Camp in Miami.
Both his parents played college ball, my daughter basketball, my son in law college soccer. He is presently one of the top players in Florida. I hope he ends up at UofL but would be happy for him wherever he decides to go.
My Grandson just had his Senior Night activities.
He’ll be joining FC Koln’s 19 & Under Squad in July. Their season starts in August. He came home just before Christmas, after finishing the first semester of high school in Germany. San Diego State had offered and they’ve agreed to take him next year if things don’t progress with FC Koln.
We don’t know what the future holds for our grandson but this is something he’s been working towards since he first started playing soccer in Kindergarten. We’re excited for him.

In an unrelated but similar story:
Yesterday UVa beat Michigan 19-11 in Lacrosse.
Maryland, Penn State, Johns Hopkins and Rutgers all won in the B1G, while Carolina and Duke were also victorious ACC schools.

That the SEC actually has 2 varsity soccer teams and who knows how many club soccer teams is amazing in itself, IMO. Soccer for the most part will be probably continue to be club style, until a breakaway happens, whether it be inside or outside the NCAA, IMO. The current reason given: Title IX is why there are only 2 men's soccer teams.
But, in following the SEC's media deals, I have to wonder why they can't jumpstart more men's varsity soccer programs from that money. Soccer will never replace football (American), IMO, but is gaining a foothold in America. You have to remember that Europe, Latin America, Africa, and Asia have been playing soccer for years, and have a huge advantage on American soccer. But, you have to start somewhere and MLS is the start, IMHO, as bad as it may be.

Cologne is a very cosmopolitan city, so lots of folks speak English. It’s vibrant and has many attractions. Hope you are planning a visit.

My daughter went over and visited him just before our Thanksgiving. My Son and I are going to make the trip later this fall.

Congrats for your grandson!! At the D2 level, soccer is actually quite a popular sport. It's sad that it's just the ladies who are popular in the Deep South though
