If it happens, that will be an excellent move. That is how McDonnell did it in Fayetteville. He cashed in his Irish connection and brought in a group of distance runners from there. That way he built up three programs at once (XC and both track seasons). Arkansas is not a powerhouse distance state, but there is still enough talent here to start the program moving in the right direction.

If we can't get some recruiting mileage out of a American mile record holder and three-time national 1500 champ, we just ain't trying. If we can get him to stay, this is BIG TIME! We can walk into the stadium at the Meet of Champs and tell any kid from Arkansas that Fayetteville doesn't have anyone like this.
