RE: The Luke Fickell Show Podcast
You know gents, when I listen to Coach speak and when I see him in the videos, he just seems very content, happy with his team, the direction/trajectory of the program, the university, the community. He is a genuine dude, a big time family man, strong work hard/reward values, and most of all he's comfortable in his own skin. I know there are no guarantees but if there was a guy that would be willing to stay as our head football coach for longer than the prior coaches [Dantonio to Granpappy] have stayed it would be Fick. He's the type of guy you could invite over for a BBQ, have a brew, and a nice down-to-earth conversation. He's so approachable and yet if he needed to take you down to the ground in an instant he could. Sorry, I have a man crush on Coach. Just a good dude and a teacher of young men. I'll suit up and run through a wall for you Coach!

+1

He is just an outstanding representative of university. Wasn't my choice at the time but it was obviously the perfect choice. Hope it lasts a long time; but if it doesn't I'll gladly thank him for being such a great leader for the program.

For all the reasons you stated, I think we keep Fickell--at least a little longer than his successful predecessors. It's an interesting plot twist in the story of UC football that a guy from a school many of us despise, who bled scarlet and gray most of his lifetime, can now be the hero for UC fans. But his deep Ohio connections and skill at leveraging those made him an ideal candidate for Cincinnati.

Should the wheels of realignment turn favorably for UC in the next few years, I think he could become a career coach here--perhaps a legendary one.

Bohn hit a "Grand Slam" when he found Fickell!
