His game is average for the PGA and he's never been a great personality. I don't understand the hype.

Meanwhile the list of athletes that ARE coming deserve some attention.

Only this place could look at Tiger Freaking Woods and be like, eh, I don't get the hype. Only one of the best golfers in the sport's history.

Edit - Ahem. I meant to say "Eldrick."

“eldrick “. Good one.
Tigers personality:
“The course looks good.
My swing feels good.
I like my chances.”

Yes.

The fact that he's not charismatic enough for you is the reason you have disdain for him.

Anyone find it interesting how the most famous and powerful in the black community, for the most part, ignore Memphis, a predominately black community? Seems to me their actions rarely match their words.

Woods doesn't come here because it's always been played before something more important.

He does this with any tournament held before something more important. And he's older with significant back problems. He doesn't play anything close to a full schedule.

But yeah man, Tiger hates black people.

Incorrect.

Molinari and Fowler are both in the top fifteen and will not be here.

But they're white, so, you know.

Tiger's back/neck issues didn't look great in the Open this past Thursday and Friday.

While I would've loved to see him play next week, I'm not surprised he had to take a pass to rest his nagging injuries...it's a tough turnaround after a long plane flight for anyone with the type of physical challenges he endures.

While he chose to pass on the Memphis trip this year, I fully expect him to play here several times before he finally retires given the tournament's WGC status.

RE: No Tiger Woods in Memphis
Eldrick is paying the price for years of having an awkward swing which put too much strain on his back. Having back issues myself I wish this on no one.

But my original statement in another thread has proven to be correct. Augusta set up for his style of play. 600 of his 1003 Fed Ex Cup points came from that one tournament and he has not been competitive in the others. Believe this is the second major in which he failed to make the cut this year.

He has always played a selective schedule picking and choosing courses which he believes he will play well and the majors. Seems that Memphis moving to a WGC tournament has not changed that.

BTW 7 of the top 10 players in the world will be playing in Memphis this year.

Not surprising that you take every chance to minimize the accomplishments of the greatest golfer of all time who happens to be black.

You really ought to ponder your feelings on this if you really think you are not a racist, it is constant theme across many subjects.

Calkins nailed it
https://dailymemphian.com/article/index/...ts-too-bad

Oh, who needed Tiger Woods anyway?

Who needed all that chaos and all those crowds?

Who needed the parking bedlam and the security challenges and the hordes of celebrity-seeking fans?

What, you’re not buying this?

Yeah, me neither.

Woods missed the cut at the British Open Friday and then told reporters "I'm going to take a couple weeks off and get ready for the playoffs."

So it's official. Woods is not coming to Memphis to play in the World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational next week. And that’s too bad.

It’s too bad because everyone would like to see Woods, of course, because he is one of the biggest stars in the universe.

It’s too bad because Woods would bring in more money for the tournament, more eyeballs to the television sets and more good publicity for Memphis and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

And it’s too bad because Woods’ absence becomes the lead story, at least temporarily. Because the very short list of golfers who aren’t coming to Memphis will briefly overshadow the very long list of golfers who are.

Golfers who are coming to Memphis: Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Justin Rose, Justin Thomas and Phil Mickelson.

Golfers who aren’t coming to Memphis: Tiger Woods.

See what I mean?

...................................................................

This is the city that came thisclose to winning a college basketball championship, after all. This is the city that came thisclose to getting into the Big East. This is the city that came thisclose to winning the LeBron James lottery. This is the city that has now come thisclose to getting Tiger Woods.

Tiger is actually more Asian than anything else...here's the breakdown:

"Tiger Woods coined a phrase to describe his ethnicity: “Cablinasian.” It is a term that describes his full racial identity: Caucasian, black, Native Amerian and Asian. Woods' late father, Earl Woods, was African-American, Chinese and Native American. Woods' mother, Kultida Woods, is Thai, Chinese and Dutch."

As for my opinion, I could care less what his nationality may be; he and Nicklaus are the greatest players of their respective eras.

Not surprising that you try to play the race card than to try and counter my argument in the post.

Because you're full of sh*t and you're needlessly inserting race into a completely non-racial matter.

But I bet you're one of those lovely idiots that accuse others of always making everything "about race."

Go f*ck yourself.
