Judging strictly from social media- about the same. Everyone in the league sending a decent mix of their own hometown media, and not really a lot of national media representation. Reddit CFB is there (has been in years prior), and The Athletic sent Chris Vannini who is their G5 guy (I think for the first time?).

The traditional journalist who spends 4 years being indoctrinated with all the PC agenda and talking points is becoming less relevant. There is plenty of coverage of everything. It's like we don't even need these "media days" anymore. Is anything really going to be "news"? I'm grateful to be able to consume media with multiple points of view and insights.

The value is two-fold.

One there is some national media that isn't going to cover the Sun Belt regularly but they will make their annual stop at media day and knock out a few pieces.

The other value is for the people who regularly cover one Sun Belt school to get time in interviewing coaches and players from other schools they can't easily access and it gives them something to write about during the slow days awaiting freshmen reporting for camp, then veterans reporting. The first three or so articles of camp write themselves just dust off last year's and change the names, so any new content is appreciated.

We are I think 6 years out from the next negotiation. Really not much reason to talk TV deal.

I think even more than 6 years out. Most recent deal was just negotiated last summer. I think its 2028 when the current deal expires.

Eh 6-7 years, usually start the process about 2 years prior to expiration. But nothing to talk about now other than encouraging people to subscribe to ESPN+ and explain how to watch.

I was disappointed that the local sports station WNSP 105.5 didn't send someone out for a little 2 hour ride to New Orleans, but the local south station 99.5 could.

Sounds like there is a pretty big G5 ESPN Bowl pool. Did they offer any insight into the bowl picture? I was hoping Kara Richey might ask Mohajir about bowls during her weekly off season segments with him---but she never hit on that subject.

Gill was asked on the Georgia Southern broadcast about the bowl picture and he stated that the Sun Belt bowl lineup would be announced in 3-4 weeks. He also stated that the Independence Bowl has not contacted the conference.

Honestly had not even crossed my mind. I'll bring it up next time around though. If there's ever a question you think I should shoot his way, just let me know. Sometimes he gets on a roll and it's hard to get a word in edgewise, but I imagine at some point I can work it in there!

WNSP 105.5 are up to their necks with the SEC, especially Alabama & Auburn, with a little NBA, NFL, MLB & PGA sparingly added.

Saw on Reddit where Jamey Chadwell says there was infighting on the team that hurt them in the latter part of last year.

I heard what I expected from Anderson. Wendy is not winning her fight against cancer. It makes it hard for most of us to care much about football at this point. I'm sure we will fall off this year with all the new coaches and him dealing with this. Hope I'm wrong but I'm not going to expect much this year.

I saw a Twitter post that some RB from App? (I actually forget which team, just not TXST) is ineligible this year. I haven't been able to re-find that tweet. Anyone else catch that?

Coastal folks can pitch in, but I thought he was the source of some of the locker room issues.

Might be our Oklahoma State transfer.

UL iirc has a transfer back that has already been cleared to play.

I guess waivers are for important things like the possibility of losing your starting jobs and not frivolous things like sick relatives.

I put out a call on Twitter, to SBC reps/reporters.

It's Charles Strong - Troy. Transfer from A&M

Told you I couldn't remember the name or school.

Yes, he's our big-time transfer from Texas A&M. Chip Lindsey was hoping the NCAA would give a waiver for family reasons, but of course it was denied.

So he'll be eligible in 2020.

Have you guys tried being a blue chip program? Heard that helps.

He specifically said there was infighting after the App game when they dropped to 5-4. They then lost their final three to finish 5-7, getting blown out in two of those.
