I am pissed!!

I want to see a link where an official at the University announces this .... if they did agree to it they are stupid, STUPID, STUPID.

So, I'm temporarily holding off indignation on this because I think Rudd is not this stupid , surely our AAC contract does not require us to move Div1aa games times to accommodate ESPN3!

I don't complain about real games on real TV being moved to 11am....but if they agreed to this they are STUPID AS HELL, only a MORON would agree to this.

Btw: the coaches probably WANT the change it gives them Saturday night off, this does not make them morons, only human.. Any AD with a lick of sense gives little or no consideration to what a coach wants as far as scheduling, they don't buy tickets.

Bowen, ? This sounds like RC... 04-chairshot

Never-mind . I found it on Gotigersgo.com

https://gotigersgo.com/news/2019/7/18/se...mphis.aspx

You can share the indignation I feel for this scheduling anytime. I sent an email to athletic office voicing my dissatisfaction. I suggest that those of us who see this as STUPID all do so.

I don’t know Prescott at all; which is unusual because I do know many people in Memphis somehow connected to Tiger program (including all the ADs in modern era). Do you guys think he actually negotiated or okayed this?

If so, we need to get a capable AD hired quickly. What if the BB schedule is screwed up??? In fact, I think it needs to be done as quickly as possible anyway. And IMO, we need an AD who is capable and willing to manage and promote both major sports pretty much equally with the necessary experience and contacts to have good schedules and start over with the Ticket office.

This is actually worth a thread but this is short sighted on behalf of admin; i think Prescott’s job is to roll with both teams who are supposed to do pretty well and just don’t screw anything up. Well this is a fail in that regard.

RE: Another 11 am kickoff..
I guess my main question would be if there has been any actual study as to what works best for attendance, ticket sales, etc.? Selfishly I dislike 11 am games because I can't go because of work. That usually means that my group of 5-6 people don't go (wife, kids, brother). Others I know have fall soccer and can't go to early games. Of course others I know can't go to night games, others can't do Friday night games or Thursday night games. Is there a basic idea as to what works best to draw the most people to each game?

Please let there be enough b*tching on social media to change this.

11a for an untelevised FCS game in 100F heat.

As opposed to a 2:30 game?

You realize the hottest part of the day is between 3 and 4 pm.

You want to be in the middle of a game at 4 pm, tailgaiting on concrete ass Tiger Lane at 4 pm, or at home (after an 11 am game) at 4 pm?

Because the only option of those three that keeps you away from the LB during the HOTTEST part of the day is the 11 am kickoff.

You people would find fault with a $100 bill.

Who said anything about 2.30p?

How about 7 or 7.30p?

Soccer game that night.

I'm all for 901 FC, but c'mon man.

That cannot be the reason. I wouldn't doubt that's the reason, but that's a very weak reason.

Let's face reality. With so many games now being televised and with the 7 - 7:30 time slot being 'prime' if they had the FCS game at that time how many people would stay home to watch the SEC prime time game instead of coming out to see the Tigers play an FCS opponent?

Now, people can do both.

I don't know; just taking a stab.

Historically wasn't 11 am fairly typical kickoff time?

RE: Another 11 am kickoff..
Historically, if TV doesn't dictate (and I know that these days that means every game but the FCS one, but before joining the AAC), we would play at 6-7.30p until it's November. Then we would play at either 11a or 2.30p.

I see no reason to play a game in early September in the day if we don't have to.

RE: Another 11 am kickoff..
I have worked with the DALLAS MAVERICKS for several years in the area of "out of the box" marketing concepts designed to sell more season tickets and game day tickets. I recently sent an email to the Athletic Dept (for now the person in management will be unnamed) offering my services PRO BONO. I can't even get anyone there to call me back. I had sent one to Tom Bowen last year and he never responded. The idea of being on TV and playing in a stadium that is half full is embarrassing to the U of M and also to football RECRUITMENT. I know what we did for the MAVERICKS will fill up a lot of those empty seats with paying customers. Our athletic department is either very overworked or just don't give a damn. We have a serious problem in that the LB is 62,000 seats and we usually have about 20,000 or more empty seats at each game. It projects an image of the fans and students not caring about the team when all those empty seats are shown on TV.....not to mention the lost revenue from ticket sales, merchandise sales, parking and food and drink sales. In the entertainment business there is a thing called a "per cap". This is the revenue generated by an attendee while at the game (other than ticket revenue). I think SIX FLAGS has a per cap of close to $30 per person. So, a family of 4 generates $120 in income, even if they get into the park for free. Now you know why parks push season tickets sales so hard.

To expand on the previous comments....why have someone buy a season ticket and then create ways for them not to show up like....an 11AM game time. Think about it. What about all the lost "per cap" revenues? What about another near empty stadium on TV?

It's really stupid.

There will be 40K minimum, with a no rain 7p kickoff.

No they don't.

ESPN/ABC/ESPN2/ESPNU/ESPNews does. ESPN3 merely shows up, does not dictate.
