RE: New, expanded, changed ticket options
This isn't against NIU as they're doing what a hundred other schools are doing but I really dislike this "mobile ticketing, no more ticket stubs" 80-90% of colleges are moving towards. I keep my ticket stub for every game -- there's no adequate replacement. It sucks that's hardly an option and might be extinct in 10 years.
Mobile ticketing should be an option not something mandatory. It's these new marketing firms/ticket companies who tout how they're "innovating" ticketing when they're really just taking away something special from collectors. Never hire someone from my generation.

I agree with that. Seems like pro events are transitioning to this also. I also wonder if you alienate a certain segment of society who do not live on their phone.

Yep. Movie theaters are like that, too. Gotta buy your tickets in advance online for reserved seating or risk losing out or having to sit up front. The last two times I went to the movie, it was all done through my phone.
Everything is moving or has moved to e-ticketing. Airlines have done it for many years. I remember when I used to get paper tickets for the plane. I used to save those as a souvenir.

The flex plan seems like the exact solution some people were looking for in another thread.

I have Packers season tickets. They mail me the physical tickets in July, but in addition to receiving the actual ticket, I can also print them, e-mail them, or send them to my phone. Even with other options being available, I always have the "original" ticket to keep for commemorative purposes. It's nice to have multiple options and I am pretty sure all of the NFL teams use the same technology, which is Ticketmaster.

Most of our season ticket base will be gone in ten years.

Most of our ticket base left 10 years ago.

I'm in favor of the no ticket option, whereby they just check our DNA via a blood or sperm sample at the gate. Just watch where you step.
