Which two conference teams would you play
Mike Aresco announced today that the conference will stand at 11 ( https://www.sltrib.com/sports/2019/07/16...thletic/). One possibility for conference scheduling is that we will have two annual rivals and rotate the other members for either 8 or 9 conference games total. Question: Which of the current conference members would you play twice:
Mine are Cincinnati and Houston (because we have been playing good games against both for longer than the others).

Except for the unknown going forward with Cincinnati, the choices are Wichita State, Temple, Houston, and Cincinnati. Those are the "marquee" match-ups.
It seems Houston is going to try to keep its program from going back in the dumps. South Florida and Central Florida could always backslide on short notice.

I guess the football icon and the staying at 11 teams was too hard for some of them to comprehend.

Closest two schools are Tulsa and Tulane?
USF, UCF, ECU, Navy and Temple really far away
SMU, Cincy and Houston middle distance?
Would want one of the Florida schools nonetheless
And either Tulane or Tulsa for proximity

RE: Which two conference teams would you play
1. Cincy - history between us, they maintain their program, similar schools
2. Houston - some history, they maintain their program, similar schools
3. UCF - champ game history, very diff school, UCF's athletic success is new and could change quickly
4. South Florida - like schools, history, never been great in fball - could thrive under
Charlie Strong; could lose & go down with Strong or even lose Strong and success
5. Tulane - long history, similar cities, terrible fball program....could be on rise to mediocre
6. SMU - history, commitment to fball is there
7. Navy - new opponent, different styles, have been competitive, large navy presence in Memphis area
8. ECU - played in same conf for years we've never played at the same level despite playing for years
9. Tulsa
10. Temple

Tulane plus one of UC, UH or UCF. I actually prefer two of the latter, but that would likely put us at a scheduling disadvantage to other AAC schools, since those 3 usually have strong teams in football.

UCF and either Cincy or Houston. UCF because, well, they're easily hated and that alone makes for a decent rivalry, plus Cincy/Houston should be a good game. Forget Tulane, they had their flash in the pan win last year but overall will not do much more than pad stats and guarantee a Tiger win in most years.

Either you rotate everyone on a long term schedule, or you seed the pairing based on the previous years standings.
