Deal or No Deal
Just a fun game to pass the summer time. I’ll pitch a scenario with a drawback. Reply with deal or no deal, then post your own.

Here’s mine:

USM goes undefeated in football and basketball the next two years, BUT baseball won’t make postseason for the next twenty.

hell yeah, I'd take that deal.

Here's mine:

Southern Miss goes undefeated in OOC football beating Alabama and MsState in shutouts, BUT comes in last in C-USA West.

Undefeated in basketball means a national championship. I might be willing to shut down baseball for 20 years in exchange for back-to-back national titles.

I think I’d take that simply because it sounds more like a plausible occurrence than a hypothetical for us.

For another twist on that same notion, would you trade never playing in a bowl, regional, or NCAA tournament again for total ownership of Ole Miss & State in those 3 sports until the end of time? We win every game, every time, and they can’t ever cancel the series.

No

We are relevant in one sport. Baseball.

We can become relevant in basketball with Jay and some help from the admin.

We CANNOT become relevant in football no matter what we do.

LOL - I was thinking the same thing as I was typing my scenario.

As for yours - That would be hard to turn down, because I know so many Ole Miss and State fans, but wow - I really love post season so I think i'd rather have the post season and ignore the Ole Miss/State fans.

Get into a power 5 conference but perpetually be the doormat in Football and Basketball (think Rutgers)

OR

Stay in CUSA and be in competition for the tallest midget year in and year out.

I'll take the power 5 conference. At least we could claim to be better than the tallest midget.

Since this is a "just for ***** and giggles" thread, I have to disagree.

As HP pointed out. Two undefeated seasons in basketball would mean 2 national championships, two undefeated seasons in Football with wins over some of the teams on our schedule the next two years would make us relevant in football again (not to mention fan's getting excited again). Maybe even relevant enough to get out of this hell-hole conference and into the AAC or maybe even Big-12 with two national championships in BB and 2 undefeated seasons in football.

Dream a little... 04-cheers

Getting off track, so here goes:

We have an exciting, fun to watch, winning basketball program...BUT Donnie Tyndall has to come back to make it happen.

Relevant in baseball = barely relevant.

That’s a tough one since he’s not allowed to coach in the NCAA for another 6 1/2 years and there’s no telling what might happen between now and then.

That's a huge step up from the other 2.

Are you saying two basketball national championships and two access bowl victories and undefeated seasons wouldn’t automatically catapult us into relevancy? Doing that would bring in more dollars in a year than baseball could in twenty.

Rich alumni emerges after hitting the lottery and promises $150 million to the football program, but Reed Green becomes an IPF and we drop the basketball programs.

No. Not at all.

I'm saying under the current system oui could go 12-0 for 18 years straight in foosball and have a snowballs chance in hell of being relevant. Likely not even get in an 'access bowl' due to the dregs we associate with.

Basketball could come around with Jay at the helm.
