Near Round Robin Football Schedule
Could this work for 11 teams? Would we need a waiver for this?
WEST: 1,2,3,4,5,6 EAST: 1,2,3,4,5
W#1 Plays E#1,2,3
W#2 Plays E#1,2,3
W#3 Plays E#1,2,3
eW#4 Plays E#4,5,1
W#5 Plays E#4,5,2
W#6 Plays E#4,5,3
E#1 Plays W#1,2,3,4
E#2 Plays W#1,2,3,5
E#3 Plays W#1,2,3,6
E#4 Plays W#4.5,6, Plus 1 designated OOC
E#5 Plays W#4,5,6, Plus 1 designated OOC
This gets everyone 8 conference games (or designated games). EXAMPLE: If E#4 and 5 were UCF and USF they could play FAU or FIU as their designated games for Conference standings. I'd be down with that.

That works, and you wouldn't need a waiver. The current rule is you have to play a full round robin (out of the question with 11 teams), OR, you play round robin within each division, with 6/5 divisions.

It's just a matter if the AAC schools will agree to OOC games counting in conference, or if they will just go with W-L percentages. Neither solution is perfect, but it can be done.

IMO, assuming no waiver, that will happen long before we add a 12th school we don't want.

I like that much better. UCF-USF seems like the natural there. Or UC-Temple. Or UC-ECU. Or UCF-ECU. Heck, just rotate the H&H every year.

Under either scenario, we might need to add a Bball + Olympic Sports team to keep our ESPN money which is easier to do than adding an all sports team or lesser football only team. I'm still hoping for BYU.

We could pimp BYU. They have an FCS game every year. Buy it out get return games in 2025, 2026, 2027. They already play a AAC team the next couple years (Houston 2020, USF 2021, ECU 2022, @Houston 2023, @ECU 2024).

Count the BYU games in conference scheduling. USF could use the flexibility, Houston could probably get a nice replacement game, ECU could try and work maybe a 2-1 to make up for the VT issue and get scheduling going the way they want again.
