Home Games
5 Home games

7 Away games

& 2 of the home games are on a Tuesday night

God I wish something could be done, for us out of town season ticket holders its getting harder and harder to hold onto those.

I don't see us having 7 home games like Toledo does. Our away OOC schedule is set up for financial reasons to bring in the bucks. So, at least for this year, it's 5 home games - or 3 for us who don't attend weeknight games.

RE: Home Games
For what it's worth ...

I think Northern has to stop trying to link Saturday and weekday night games in its "special" ticket packages, or it's going to lose even more season-ticket and other fans. Fans are not that stupid to pay extra for a game they're not going to attend, so it makes the cost of the games they will attend more expensive. That's no deal at all. Likewise, "season" tickets should be all the Saturday games, with an option to buy the weekday night games cheap.

Given that the weekday night games are not going away, Northern has to concentrate on a 6h-6a schedule (which returns starting in 2020, I think), and really focus on marketing the four Saturday games (three this year). Take what it can get on weekday nights; difficulties with game times (work next day), weather, travel, etc., are not going to change.

Boost marketing to on-campus students (residence halls, apartments) for weekday night games; they're right there so don't have the next-day/work-day/early morning/travel-time problems. Don't schedule Friday night games that conflict with high school football.

RE: Home Games
I bought season tickets purely for the purpose of supporting NIU athletics. I have the intention of going to maybe 2 games this year. Apparently there's an organization that you can donate your unused tickets to, so that vets can get them.

But if they were on Saturdays. You can bet I'd be at every game.

RE: Home Games
Weeknight games should be priced based on the start time.
$6 = 6pm start
$7 = 7pm start
$8 = 8pm start

Fan Appreciation giveaway for jerseys, t shirts, mugs etc. during the last game of the year.
Each attendee gets a raffle ticket upon entering the stadium and at the end of each quarter 3 numbers are chosen to win prizes.

I think I'd reverse that to $8 for 6 p.m., $7 for 7 p.m. and $6 for 8 p.m. Later kickoff means more inconvenience, tighter time frame with work next day.

I've had 4 seat season tickets on the 13th row for sooo many years now, you'd think they'd try to give us some type of benefit or at least appreciate us for being there for years? Only time I ever hear from them is when I haven't paid for my tickets fast enough. Now we getting less and less home games.

I look at the week night games this way. It is November, it is cold and I can watch from my couch.

Yep. Unless I were to have Skybox tickets, there is no way I am sitting out there on a frigid night and freezing my ass (and other parts) off. Makes no sense to me when we can watch the game in comfort from home on a big screen with a good supply of beer on hand.

I just spent $10.50 for a drink at Wrigley. With the heat we had many. Heck, water was $5 a bottle.

This $8 idea is giving away the ticket.

I too bought the season ticket as a donation but will probably go to all the games anyways.

Were they allowing people to bring in water bottles? I know when it is super hot (90+), they used to let you bring in water.

Didn't try or ask but I bet this weekend they will. Hard to find a free water fountain. The one in center field was not cold even though it was shaded and on ground floor.

Yes, unopened @ wrigley. All the time.

Bears used to let you bring empty plastic bottle but abruptly stopped.

And yet you have people on here and on the mac board claiming weeknights don't make a difference. If diehards on this board can't go to weeknight games, how many casual fans don't go because they're weeknight games?

RE: Home Games
I posted this on another thread, so flex-buying might help some people if they want only Saturday games. But that also means they don't need to buy season tickets. And you can't guarantee your same seats game-to-game. And you have to buy 5.

https://niuhuskies.com/news/2019/7/17/fo...ption.aspx

On impact of weekday nights, you're absolutely correct. I have home attendance figures back to 1995, and while Northern did OK with most Thursday nights, the Tues-Weds games are horrific. Less than half a Saturday game most times ... and Saturdays haven't been all that great.

I was just citing an earlier post and the idea of variable cost per kickoff time. Point is, first get people in the seats. Then you can charge them whatever for a drink or water or whatever. Not trying to start an argument ... your point well-made r.e. what people are willing to pay. But big difference between summer baseball and weekday nights in November at Huskie Stadium. And you'll pay those exorbitant costs because they're the only refreshment game in town (or allowed).
