Neither should teams who can’t avenge more than 1500 in basketball.

I’d go by football since every school invests more in football than any other sport. But ya having below 1500 for basketball is really bad

The further east your school is located the better. That's a general rule of thumb.

Questions like this are subjective due to all the potential ways to determine a top school. So I’ll say Marshall rules & the rest of you suck.

We do have some great schools in this conference. Maybe not great athletic programs, but great schools at the very least. Many of these schools have done some impressive things in the past. Difficult to have consistent success in today's D1 era.

True and most of the frustration comes from being undervalued by Media outlets even with somewhat of a competitive product. I feel we are not hitting the hardest where it matters the most and i think we will eventually with stability.

RE: WHO DO YOU CONSIDER THE 6 BEST TEAMS IN CUSA?
So I went through and compiled the votes as best I could and here is roughly where we are at currently:
#1 Marshall - Almost unanimous (16)
#2 USM- On almost all lists (13.83)
#3 UAB- Not far behind USM (12.5)
#4 Tech- Right behind UAB (12)
#5 WKU (10)
#6 North Texas (8.83)
Honorable mention : MT (8)

Big dropoff after that.
Rice (5)
ODU (4.83)
UTEP (4)
FAU (2.33)
FIU (1.33)
UNCC (1)
UTSA (0.33)

That’s pretty much every G5 conference except the MAC (they accepted their ceiling and are happy to be where they are).

Just look at the AAC when the Big XII had an audition two or three years ago. Every school except for Tulsa and Navy applied and were ready to leave especially Cincinnati.

That’s just the way it is in G5 land.

Yep and that is something we in G5 tend to forget.

You don't think North Texas is positioned to be successful moving forward?

It’s not just North Texas. Each of the 14 schools in this conference is positioned to be successful moving forward. The problem with this 3.0 version just like 2.0 is that there’s not a single program or two even three that is making noise on the national level. None. Some people call it parity. Some call it mediocrity. I think it’s a combination of the two.

You are getting there, but you are missing a major sport. A couple good years in football doesn't erase the long run of losing seasons. That is just my opinion.

Your statement was regarding... "which schools will likely be able to perform well, athletically, from now forward".

Going forward I think North Texas is positioning our athletics to continue being successful.

- opened a new $14 million track/soccer stadium in 2018
- paying our head football coach over $1.8 million a year
- raises for other coaches and staff
- opening a new $17 million indoor practice facility this fall
- installing a new basketball court for this season
- preparing to expand and double the size of our athletic center

But, if you want to look at our past in C-USA. Since joining C-USA 6 years ago, North Texas has been to 4 bowls. Just for reference...

Most Bowl Appearances Since 2013 (organization of C-USA 3.0)

1. LA Tech (5)
1. Marshall (5)
1. MT (5)
4. North Texas (4)
4. WKU (4)
6. Southern Miss (3)

I'm not saying we don't have room to improve, but we are certainly doing as well as some of those in your top 5.
