Take away the U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS PARADISE JAM and GCU only plays 1 OOC road game (against UNM). GCU fans cannot be happy about the SOS. I will be a GCU fan on 12/17, though...

At least Mississippi Valley State is no longer on the schedule. That's one positive.

Majerle really only road tests his GCU team against UNM and at the Paradise Jam. It is not too impressive a schedule for a program that aspires to being the next Gonzaga. They better make the best of their opportunities to turn heads. GCU needs to beat Illinois, UNM, and make an impressive run in the Paradise Jam.

Only saw one HBCU. Pine Bluff. GCU typically preys on three or four a year. It made sense at first because the SWAC and MEAC were entry level competition for a newly D1 school.

It’s an overall weak sauce schedule. Illinois, UNM... games that would be a W worth mentioning. UNI and Liberty will be the other winning record teams they’ll face. Beat Valpo and see who we draw next. Pretty hard to get excited about these games.

Maybe they lost a few too many non conference games last year?

That's a good addition to the Lopes' schedule. Majerle needs to test his team early and often to prep for a WAC tourney run. NMSU has a much tougher schedule with road games at Arizona, Mississippi State, Washington State, Denver, New Mexico, and UTEP. They also play in the Cayman Island Classic with a first game against Colorado State and possible matchups against South Florida and Nebraska. I will be surprised if NMSU wins as many regular season games this season as they had last season. Heck, GCU "might" have a better record than NMSU come March.
