Exclamation Change to 2020 MT Football Schedule
MT originally scheduled to play at Ole Miss next year.

However, that game has been pushed to 2024. UConn is filling the slot we we had next year.

No official word yet, but here's how I think this is going to play out. UConn is struggling to fill out a schedule as they move to Indy. So, Massaro works a three way deal.

MT will still receive the $1.5M guarantee from Ole Miss and UConn gets a badly needed home game out of the deal but no money for going to Ole Miss.

We will see if this plays out this way. Again, no official word. Just my best guess into what's playing out.

Hearing the same. MT still gets the $1.5 Mil from Ole Miss. You just play @ UCONN instead of @ Ole Miss. Pretty good deal for both MT and UCONN. Maybe Ole Miss got a basketball series out of it?

Creative move. Massaro is no dummy--- but he does hang on to coaches too long.

Sounds like a great deal. We get a winnable game away from home OOC and postpone the likely "A**whuppin" from Ole Miss for another 4 years! While I want MT to play SEC teams in all sports; the only SEC team we ever beat in FB is Vandy! And, that hasn't happened in the last 4 times we've played them.

It’s only been two years since we beat Missouri.

Congrats to MTSU. This definitely seems like a win-win situation. Any clue if MTSU will get a second payout when they actually go to Oxford in 2024? If so, then you're definitely making out like bandits. 04-cheers

RE: Change to 2020 MT Football Schedule
USM lucked out on a deal like that about 12 years ago. ECU was scheduled to play at Va Tech for an $800k payday. However, ECU signed a multi year home and home deal with NC State or someone similar that was to be started the same year. ECU was already full of OOC games but obviously wasn't turning away at P5 home series. Part of the deal with ECU backing out of the game with Va Tech was for ECU to find a comparable replacement. USM got the $800k payday plus an additional $300k from either ESPN or ECU as the game was on ESPN2 to give USM one of its largest (if not largest) paydays at the time of $1.1 mil. Considering that was over 10 years ago it definitely was a win for USM even though we ended up losing the game.

Yes. Ole Miss will still be on the hook for paying us in '24 though the financial arrangement of that deal is unknown.
