ACC cutting ties with Indy Bowl
https://twitter.com/Brett_McMurphy/statu...1563045890

According to Brett McMurphy, the ACC is cutting its ties to Independence Bowl for the 2020-2025 cycle, which means that PAC-12 may not sign. That would leave Indy without a P5 team.

Always said that Indy should work some sort of CUSA/SBC/AAC deal. That would get them a pool of 14 or so schools within 6-7 hour drive. They would have at least 10 schools from 3 conferences within 4 hours.

Or could shuffle some stuff around with the p5s and free up another bowl rotation spot for the belt to make up for the loss of the Arizona bowl.

A rotating spot in the Myrtle Beach bowl and a Rotating spot in Indy Bowl would make up for the full spot in the Zona bowl

My understanding is CUSA has some type of secondary bowl tie in with Indy--I dunno how we've never had some sort of arrangement with them. It may occur soon as I think despite their history Indy will soon be relegated to a 'mid major' bowl status.

The P5 doesn't want much to do with Indy because of low pay out. Indy is stuck with 6-6 P5 teams (if they can get them) and a crappy time slot. They are trying to market two teams that locals don't want to see and situated in a time slot that makes sure that the fans of those teams aren't going to travel (not an easy drive for the ACC folks). Can't sandwich a weekday mid afternoon game between Christmas and New Years and expect folks to travel and locals to take off work. Trying to get G5 teams that are within 5-6 hours should help. Ratings might not be great (they aren't now) so you have to go with the ticket revenue.

Indy Bowl isn’t what it use to be. They’re better off getting SBC/CUSA/AAC tie in. There’s plenty of schools driving distant from Shreveport.
