I'd say Louisiana's win over ECU and Nevada are WAY better than Georgia Southern's win over EMU and Georgia State's win over WKU.

Arkansas State's win would have to be much higher as well, considering they beat a #25-ranked Kent State.

If we're ranking based on quality of opponent, then that 2015 BGSU team has to be a lot higher for being MAC Champs and beating two P5 teams. EMU last year beat a pretty decent Purdue team as well. I'm fairly sure both teams are better than that Nevada team.

If we're talking about quality opponent I'd say the 2017 Toledo team is top 3 on that list. Definitely better than 2018 Buffalo

And to be damn frank, that 2016 UCF sucked

They had wins over teams that were, 4-8, 4-8, 4-8, 3-9, 3-9, MEAC FCS. No wins over a team with a winning record.

Not a world beater by a long shot.

EMU wasn't that good. They were 7-5 and begging someone to give them a bowl bid. They slogged to a 7-5 record.

Right but considering what those same players did the next two seasons you can understand the ranking a little.

App's 34-0 win over an 11-2 MAC champ Toledo being where it is on the list is nuts. That's a top 3 bowl win based on opponent alone in conference history.

RE: Ranking the top bowl game wins for current Sun Belt teams
If I were ranking the bowl teams we've beaten since 2014 (not going to research the rest right now):

1. Bowling Green 2015
2. Toledo 2017
3. Buffalo 2018
4. Toledo 2016
5. Ohio 2016
6. EMU 2018
7. UCF 2016
8. Nevada 2014
9. MTSU 2018
10. Ohio 2015

If UCF had finished strong in 2016 I'd have them higher, but they lost 2 of the last 3 (including Tulsa). EMU is one team that was better than their record showed. They had a 3-game stretch playing Purdue, SDSU, and NIU all on the road and beat Purdue and lost to the other 2 in OT.

I assume this list is for current SBC teams. The 2002 UNT win in the New Orleans Bowl was both the first win for the SBC, as well as an unexpected win for the Green.

Unless I'm mistaken, Kent State is the only ranked team current SBC has faced in a bowl.

Troy faced #25 Central Michigan in 2009. Lost in double overtime on a missed FG. Same fate, ironically, as Troy's double overtime bowl loss to Southern Miss in 2008.

GS’s win over BG and crApps win over Toledo both champs and largest margin of victories in SB history. Kinda low. [/align]

Won’t try to speak for other schools, but you’ve got GS backwards. The EMU game was dramatic, but EMU wasn’t nearly as good as Bowling Green and the stakes weren’t nearly as high.

In last year’s game, GS found a way to beat a very good defense and a team full of seniors looking to put a cherry on top of a legacy they were already proud of with turning that team around. But the 2015 Bowling Green team was a high-flying circus act that was on the fringes of the top-25, had dominated the MAC, and was sending its coach to a P5 gig. Shutting them out and watching the option carve them to pieces in the second half is easily the more impressive of the Eagles’ bowl wins.

Wow, we don’t really have any great bowl wins. ArkSt beating UCF is nice (but that was a different UCF at that time).

Personally, I don’t rank Troy’s win over Buffalo highly. I think our bowl games vs Central Michigan (2010 GMAC, 41-44 2OT), and Southern Miss (2008 New Orleans Bowl, 27-30 OT), were real thrillers and I would rather re-watch these games than our recent bowl wins over North Texas, Buffalo or Ohio.

The difference between the lead ups to the EMU game and the Bowling Green game were staggering. I remember when we found out we were headed to the Camellia Bowl last year. EMU’s players and fans just seemed happy that they finally made a bowl. There was lot so of confidence and hype from our players and their players on twitter and a lot of mostly good-natured ribbing.

When we were matched up with Bowling Green in 2015, they acted like it was the ultimate insult to their program that they should have to play a team that had only been FBS for 2 years and has never played in a Bowl Game. They talked so much **** and acted like we were so beneath them. That made beating them by multiple touchdowns that much sweeter.

App’s 34-0 win over Toledo is our biggest bowl victory for the SBC to date, and is followed closely by the drubbing of MT last year. It proved that our best isn’t just on par with the best of the MAC and CUSA, but our best is throttling competition once thought to be superior. When our top two or three teams can stomp a mud hole in their top teams and walk it dry, it does nothing but help the overall perception of the league. I’m proud of those wins for App, sure, but I’m also proud of what it says for the Belt.
