Visited Newport Rhode Island the past few days. Discovered that URI is only 30 to 40 minutes from Newport. I booked rooms at the Mainstay Hotel where we were staying. Rates for Thursday were in the $50s and Friday and Saturday in the $80s. Just an FYI.

If you have never been to Newport, stay an extra day or two. A fabulous place.

Newport is a great place to visit. There is a little museum with classic cars, the tennis hall of fame, and of course the ridiculous mansions of some of the old money families from America's history. Good, fresh seafood as well.
