This happened to me before too. I booked as soon as the schedule was released (like within minutes) and a few weeks later received the same type of letter (not as bad as 9 months).

I don't even stay close to Clemson or Tallahassee due to motels jacking up the rates.

With Clemson it really would be best to just stay in Greenville and drive over in the morning. Only part that sucks is the insane traffic on the drive back, but that just gives you some time to hangout and tailgate some more

Went in early to tail gate and beat most of the traffic going in. Getting out after the game was hell though. Walked about a mile through the campus after the game to the commuter lots then did exactly as you proposed above and hung out and tailgated some more and more and more. 03-drunk 04-jawdrop 04-jawdrop Couldn't get out of the parking lot with all of the traffic coming up from the stadium. Appears they don't have police in the outer lots to give the fans there a break to get out so they can get the crowd out of the close high price parking lots and off the main campus first. Appears there is only one main road in and out of that campus too. 04-cheers

Went to Nc State/Clemson last year (friend plays for Wolfpack). Stayed in Greenville. Clemson ingress was standstill hours before the game. At one point we passed by a boiled peanut stand, purchased them, and got back inside the car which hadn't moved. Those boiled peanuts were the WORST taste ever, lol.

Clemson had a couple dozen football-themed floats for homecoming that were amazing artwork.

Most people take Hwy 76 to/from I-85 -- and it's PACKED on game days.

I've had some success taking US 123 from Greenville to/from Clemson (aka "the back way").

If you stay in a hotel in Anderson (less than 30 miles away) and you're feeling really adventurous, there are some REALLY BACK back roads you can take (but you better have a good GPS signal!)

Drove by the boiled peanut stands on the way in too. I wouldn't waste my time buying them either. Had boiled peanuts in Georgia at a roadside stand while there on business. Your right they are horrible. As a matter of fact they just out and out suck. 04-jawdrop 04-cheers

Thanks I'll be in Columbia this year so I have about a year and 5 months to figure it for a return trip to Clemson if I can get there again next year. 04-cheers

It's a nightmare getting out of there. Was stuck up there in 2012 after we beat them in a night game and we ended up tailgating and walking around downtown for like 2-3 hours. Even after that there was a lot of traffic

What do you expect from people that put mustard in their BBQ?

Mustard or vinegar pepper are both good BBQ condiments since BBQ was meant to be pork. You need the vinegar or the vinegar and natural tartness of mustard to complement the pork fat.

The heathens are the ones who put anything tomato or ketchup based on pork, or call anything other than pork BBQ.

BTW, boiled peanuts were created in the south where peanuts were made famous. Peanuts were intended to be boiled if eaten whole. That's why when you eat roasted peanuts you spend 20 minutes getting the remnant out your teeth. Only heathens roast peanuts.
