Any time Larry shot the ball. It was a thing of beauty.
The '73 game against Wichita St. in the Coliseum.
But, I digress. Not many of us left to remember.

Agreed! I was there on Jan 20 1973 when he dropped 48 on St. Joseph's of Indiana. Still have the score sheet. Still the Tiger single game scoring record.

If there had been a 3 point line back then, he would have scored 60 that night, and about 2,500 for his 3 year career (freshmen were ineligible in those days).

Keith Lee blocking Dell Curry’s shot in the closing seconds in 1984? Those 2 basically dueled each other the entire night.

That is my favorite.

Stole the ball from Pee Wee Barber in Metro semis I believe. Andre was clutch. The ‘85 NCAA tournament showed just how clutch he was with two game winners vs UAB and BC. Good teams then. Either could qualify because of the stakes.

I think it was the very next game, or previous game, that Turner hit the game winner against UAB.

I also loved the Arkansas game at the LIberty Bowl where we just kept blocking all their punts, They never adjusted, I think we blocked 3 in that game.

He hit two game winners vs the two teams listed to keep us alive to the Final Four. No more vacated than 2008 either.

Hit the dude at the 1/2 yd line and knocked him on his ass. If he doesnt hit him square, he scores and Tigers lose.

Stopping Ole Miss on a couple of fourth fourth downs. 'Tournament run' dunks by CDR or Joey Dorsey -- don't seem to qualify as "the best" - so help me out. I'd be interested to see/ read what others have to say. Plays that are indelibly marked in your memories but, for some reason, aren't in mine - at least not at the moment.:-)

Lots of great ones already listed. I think the first ones that came to mind for me were DeAngelo's run against UTEP and Barto's goal line stops against the Rebels for football and probably CDR's dunk over Love and Tony Madlock's dunk over LaBradford Smith.

Interesting looking for a signature play.

Some are easy, Auburn’s missed FG TD return against Alabama or example.

And even they might pick a play from a national title season.

For us, limiting to bigger games or monumental upsets I think it has to be:

Anderson to Powers

Hate using an upset instead of more important game win but seriously, all things considered, whether you were at the Liberty Bowl that day or not, the moment he scored that touchdown kept the city literally hyperventilating for weeks. The stadium exploded and when the final gun sounded even the players helped take down the goal posts. Because our football teams are now at least closer to being on equal footing with other schools a moment like that cannot happen again, but, we’ll take it.

Honorable mention the DWash misses. In tragedy re rose a program

Paxton Lynch to Roderick Proctor to beat BYU 55-48 in 2OT in the 2014 Miami Beach Bowl.

The Tigers finish 10-3 and #25 in the country. Also won the AAC title that year.

That was the best Tiger football team since Spook Murphy's undefeated team in 1963.

That's not even the best play in that game.

This play was better:

And Keith Lee's block of a Dell Curry shot at the end of the game against Virginia Tech at the MSC to preserve the win. Curry was killing us that night, as usual. They must have been 25 feet from the basket. Place went wild.

The 1992 team that started the season 0-3 with combined losing margin of 6 points in those 3 games and went on to finish 6-5 with the 5 losses being by a combined 17 points IMO was the best Tiger team since the 1963 team. Outscored opponents 312-181 over an 11 game season and Stobart made some bad play calls that held that team back particularly at Ole Miss at the goal line in last 2 minutes.

The 2014 lost by 7 on the road at #11 UCLA, by 21 on the road at #10 Ole Miss, and by 4 at home against Houston. After that, they pretty much beat the crap out of most of the rest of the teams on their schedule.

I watched both teams play and I stand by my original assessment.
