There was a crane with pilings for a scoreboard on the north end. Also noticed that the light poles on the east side are right where you would expand the current seating. It could be worked around, but quite a few potential seats would be lost. I would say there is no reason to think there would be any increase in seating in the near future if that's where they put the lights.

It looks like the high jump will remain in the same area on the south end. There is room for the LJ/TJ between the track and field on the north, but that's a guess. There was something going on between the south end of the track and the woods. Not sure you could cram a pole vault area there. I tried to look at the field events area at Carter, but the fence gates were locked. All I could see from driving by were a throwing cage and some concrete pads. BTW, Carter Field was lined for football practice. Guess they need grass.
Grass is easier on the knees.

Yet our starting center goes down for the season with a knee injury.

He had surgery before practice #1 in the Glass Bowl. He had surgery Thursday or Friday morning.

Could field hockey be next?

Curious location for the light poles. What is this schools fascination with poles where seats should be?

We used to have field hockey. Almost all of the players were from the east coast. The teams were bad and the program was cancelled.

If anything it would be Lacrosse, but I doubt the AD would be expanding in coming years...more likely than not that there will be a contraction instead.

Surprisingly a lot of the FH team was local to start with. Kirpal Singh Mahal was the coach and both the facilities and the team struggled at first. Not sure how many years it lasted?

With MVCDS, SUA, and Ottawa Hills, that doesn't surprise me that much...they've all had field hockey for a pretty long time I believe. Can't speak to their abilities, though I'm guessing they aren't world beaters given your post 03-lmfao

Pretty sure none of those schools had FH when UT did-maybe OH.

BTW, I believe the PV area will be on the north side of the track and LJ/TJ to the south with only the throws at Carter Field.

That area is perfect to expand seating. It looks like it could still happen, even though the lights would certainly eat up some of the seats.

RE: Soccer field
So apparently the new soccer field is also getting a huge video board!! Fast forward to 16 seconds and you'll get a glimpse. I'm really not sure why this hasn't been hyped up more but it's fantastic news. Big time!

I think it's great that the player and coach recognize that the university is making an effort with the facilities but I think they leave unrecognized perhaps the most important effort, a four page and counting thread on csnbbs with emoji's, photos, video links, and even better ideas from some of the University's smartest alums, associates and fans. Am I right?

OH had FH for a long time. State Champs in 92,93, and 98.

A field hockey field is very different. It has to be AstroTurf and not grasslike. It has to be watered everyday. Not kidding. . .

Had good fun watching it at the Olympics in Atlanta back in 1996
