Looking for some good books to read on UC Sports. See Amazon has Michael Perry's "Tales from Bearcats Locker Room". Any other good books. Thanks

Bearcats Rising by Josh Katzowitz is about the rise of UC football under Kelly and goes into the past from the beginning of the program.

I’ve been a fan since 1994. Paul Daugherty relapsed a book with many of his “best” columns and several covered the Bearcats. He’s not exactly what I would call a friend of the program but his columns offer some insight to how the program is perceived under the Higgins era. Also some great insight into other Cincinnati sports.

I just recently bought “The Forgotten Bearcats” by Bill Koch, but haven’t started reading it yet.

The book that chronicles UC's Orange Bowl year is pretty good. Each chapter is a recap of the week/opponent/game outcome and the book also has all the news clippings as the year progressed etc. It's pretty good. Can't remember the name.

Katzowitz also wrote Sid Gillman: Father of the Passing Game.

While it is not entirely devoted to UC, there is quite a bit of UC content in the book.

THAT Is an outstanding book. Lots of inside info on how much the program meant to a lot of those early recruits of Cronins. It gave me a different view of Mick, and it was a good view. Mick did a great job in his 13 years here. I'm excited to see what CJB brings to the program and I expect even better things under his tenure.

Stay tuned for the follow-up from Mick Cronin, aptly titled "Goodbye, Bearcats!"

Thanks, I bought some Bearcat book for my kid (Bearcat A to Z), but it was kinda cheesy to be honest. I went ahead and ordered Bearcats rising and Tales from Bearvats locker from Amazon. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Chasing Success, Finding Purpose: The Dontonio Wingfield Story

https://www.amazon.com/dp/1791610358/ref...kDbFJ7C55H

“Dontonio Wingfield knows the powerful pull of the past. Having grown up in a world of poverty, abuse and addictions, he passionately pursued a path that would take him to a successful life of money and fame. His status as the Albany (Georgia) basketball superstar of the 1990’s opened the door for him to become a starting freshman at the University of Cincinnati. After one year, Dontonio was drafted to the NBA by the Seattle Supersonics reaching the pinnacle of success. However, all of it came crashing down in one fatal swoop. With honesty and transparency, Dontonio shares with the rest of the world his story of mistakes and poor choices that led him to a season of darkness and pain. Fortunately, that season was neither final nor fatal. Dontonio chose to rise up to a life filled with meaning and purpose. As a result, he is creating a new life for himself and for future generations.”

Jane Leavy's Sandy Koufax, a Lefty's Legacy is a great book about a great Bearcat. Koufax never talked about much anything; his Dodger nickname was "Gabby." Leavy got Koufax to open up.
This book has a historical picture: the only known photo of Bearcat Baseball's Best Battery ever: Danny Gilbert, a walk-on catcher and Sandy Koufax with their picture together in a Coney Island photo booth!

Bob Huggins first book Pressed for Success is the story of the 1992 Final Four Team. He liked Bill Koch and couldn't stand Pete Gillen and Gerry Faust.

I still have a copy of Pressed For Success. Will have to pull it out and read it again soon.
