There's one poster here who still wants to talk about this Huggins and Zimpher stuff. Just ignore it. No reason to respond.

Conjecture...

And it does not explain why Z contacted the NCAA to keep Kennedy's team out of the tourney the following year--she had an axe to grind.
Where is the evidence on that? It would have been all over the news... local and national. In all these years I've never heard any rumors if anything like that and I was solidly in the pro-Huggins camp.

It was designed NOT to make the news to save face for Z so she could bag her next gig. It was also to deny AK any chance of continuing as coach with the "interim" tag removed. Z didn't want a Huggins loyalist as successor--she wanted someone who back stabbed Huggins in the past.....Hence.....

Remember that the local news media were in her pocket the whole way, so it was not pursued.

I know this from personal communication.
AK actively tried to kill the program post Huggins. At the last radio show him and Huggs joked around about it, giving each other high fives and saying the program was buried forever. That was when I turned on Huggins because, as a UC fan and alum, the school is bigger than the coach. I couldn't believe they said it in front of school officials, the media, and the boosters that supported them through all the scandals and arrests. And guess what? None of that was in the media. So who was in who's pocket?

After Z buried AK. BTW Huggins never turned on the UC Fans. It was the UC Admin he was ticked over. Remember...this was all after his near fatal heart attack and the death of his mother...sweet timing on the part of Z and her jack-booted thugs.

He doesn't hold animus toward UC any more...shows that this was a situational response...it also shows that Huggins was correct about the program being buried as long as it was shackled by Z's dictates.

Post-season record since reflects that.

Huggins knows he is still loved here.

Again...personal communication.

I'm not going to continue in this dialogue for several reasons. I have direct contradictory information (you are conveniently leaving out his DUI being the catalyst for everything). It is also ancient history and nothing to do with today's program. Brannon is the coach, has done a great job recruiting, and has no ties to anyone in that circle. No reason to continue down a path that again is divisive among Bearcat fans.

I support Brannon and my alma mater. Go Bearcats.

I knew that about Mayo, but I don't know about Walker. Kansas State never got in trouble for getting Walker.

Can you imagine a 2007-08 team with Bill Walker, Devan Downey, and Michael Beasley (assuming Huggs still would have gotten Beasley and Walker)? With a recruiting class like that, maybe Mayo would have come along for the ride too.

That's the real reason Z sacked him...had he assembled that class they'd have gone deep and perhaps have bagged a NC.

Couldn't have that...so out the door you go.
I know you love Huggins and hate Zimpher (including working for UC), but this is ridiculous. Huggins screwed himself. The DUI was bad, then he played a power play wanting a contract extension and they called his bluff and forced him out. Had he not done that he'd have been coach at UC for 3 more years.

Wanting a contract extension isn't a "power play" or a "bluff", it's a necessity for the lifeblood of every program: recruiting. This is just common sense.

I'm generally pro-Zimpher, but I remember hearing those rumors loud and clear.

You didn't hear any complaining about it though because everyone ended up moving on with their lives and getting what they wanted pretty quickly (Kennedy, Zimpher, Cronin, even Huggins ended up at WVU in 13 months). And the players didn't get much sympathy when it turned out that 2 of the seniors didn't show up to classes all semester and everyone else was transferring.

Aside from most of the players, it was us fans she screwed most of all.

RE: DB Noah Hamlin Arrested
I like that a thread about a football player turned into a Z vs. Hugs thread. How many coaches and presidents have we had since that happened. We all have our opinions...and they likely aren't changing. One thing most of us feel though is, despite the conference we are in, the future of our AD is looking good. I don't like our conference but it is what it is until it isn't. The direction Bohn has taken us in, coachwise, is looking pretty good.

I'm with you here...Z's foot is off the neck of MBB...finally. Time to get good again and recruit quality players who can boost the program and take us deep.

The acknowledgement of the DUI is the subject of the bulk of the thread.

I'm confused as to your "contradictory information"

* Did Huggins not have a heart attack?
* Did the media not laud Z for her actions...especially PDoc?
* Did Huggins' mother not die?
* Did he not personally tell me that he loves the UC Fans?
* The skinny on the Tourney snub was from an AD and player source--I keep in touch with the old crew to see what's up. Gee and Z were tight.

lol the famed UC conspiracy that Ohio State somehow got Nancy Z into UC to fire Huggins and submarine the basketball program because they were jealous is maybe my favorite UC conspiracy....never gets old.

Right up there with those who also believe there is somehow an XU person in the room for March Madness match ups and they are there for the sole purpose of making sure UC is hosed in the seedings/pairings lol.

BTW, those of you who believe these two things, where do you buy your tinfoil from? I'm running low...

I asked her at a cocktail party why she wore hooker hose. She sai by changing gaudy hose it changed the outfit so no one noticed she had worn the suit before, thus saving her clothes cost. I told my wife her comment and she responded "Saved on clothing? She is wearing a St. Johns Knit that costs $1,000"
