2019-20 Men's Basketball Non-Conference Schedule
Haven't seen a thread mentioning it so here's the Men's Basketball Non-Conference Schedule so far
November 5- Johnson & Wales
November 8- North Carolina
November 12- Campbell
November 16- At Davidson
November 19- NC Wesleyan
November 29- At Boise State
December 1- At Stanford
December 7- Charlotte
December 16- Mercer
December 21- At Vanderbilt
It also looks like we are playing in a tournament called The DC Classic in DC (of course) but I can't find the teams that are in the tournament or dates for the tournament.
We were also scheduled to play EZU but I think we dropped that game to play at Vandy
Any thoughts on the schedule?

Sold schedule minus the two non D1s. Other than the UNC game all the home games are very winnable. Campbell- Chris Clemons graduated, Mercer- new coach, Charlotte- they were worse than us last year and Sanchez is only in his 2nd year of trying to implement the pack line D.

UNC likes to lose non conference games early on, so, it's winnable ! :)

Haha that is true! I just hope we can keep it respectable, unlike last years game.

Heck I think every road game is winnable as well. Stanford is losing a lot, Vanderbilt has a new coach, Boise State wasn’t great last year, and Davidson is going to be strong again this year but if we can at least guard Grady then I think we’ll have a good shot.

Looks like we are the only team so far to be announced for the DC Classic.

Was last year's GA St. game a 1 and done?

About ezu - I am not completely sure about this but I believe that last year's game was the last in the four year contract. For whatever reason there has not been a new contract.

I would be fine with playing Charlotte or Coastal every year instead.

I’m wasn’t sure how Boise State basketball was last year, but I mostly agree except Davidson. They are like a well oiled machine every year.

I like the schedule. As for ecu getting dropped... who cares? They suck. I know it bothers our ecu lurkers and they put full blame on our coach. That’s fine. End of the day, if they put a better product on the floor he’d want to play and renew that contract.

Dooley said you guys didn't want to play it. Have you seen our 11 man incoming class? I'd be more tha happy to play.
I like Dodd and Phillips, I just like a lot of what we're bringing in more. Look for this to be the year ecu hoops turns.
Overall I'd say your schedule is great, the 2 non D1s inexcusable. Out OOC sucks so not a lot of room to talk in that regard.

Most of our non D1 opponents are part of agreements with the tournaments we play in. A different form of play to play.

Well, if y’all improve I’m sure it’s a possibility that rivalry returns. Until then, there’s a lot more in-state options for us at the P5 and mid major levels.
I’ve heard ecu fans chat up their “incoming recruits” a lot before and it never amounts to much. I’ll wait and see without holding my breath.

Dooley is a proven recruiter and winner. We've never done anything like he did this offseason with 11 new recruits.
Other than 2-3 really good years with Keats, have you guys really been any good the last 10-14 years?

It’s irrelevant if we’ve still been beating you... which McGrath has done... twice. I’m also talking historical relevance of our program vs that of ecu. I’m not getting into this anymore than that. This devolves into the same pissing match as always. We have a place for that, and this isn’t it. Go to the Bird Droppings forum and start a thread on your recruits if you want.

Oasis Pirate, why don't you read my signature line and look at the championships this century. The flagship CAA program in terms of championships period. ECU hasn't been to the NCAA's since 1993 and was a 16 seed that year. No comparison at all.

FYI, this is a UNCW board. Remember that and feel free to go elsewhere if you choose.
Also, FYI, EZU has NEVER been good consistently. Only ELEVEN winning records since 1965, that's 54 years for EZU grads. That's about 20%.
ONE 20 win season EVER with only three other seasons over 18 wins. TWO trips to the NCAA EVER and zero in the past 26 years.
UNCW 22 winning season since 1976, that's 43 years. That's more than 50% of our seasons. SIX 20 win seasons and 9 other seasons with at least 18 wins. SIX trips to the NCAA tournament, all of them in the past 19 years.
It's ok to be optimistic but excuse us for not buying the hype. And spare yourself the emarassment of trash talking UNCW basketball as an EZU fan. Not a single traditional student as EZU was even born the last time you guys played an NCAA tournament game.
