DC12- LA Lakers Summer League
Kawhi Leonard to the Clippers makes it a little tougher for Cacok to land a roster spot on the Lakers this season, IMO. I do agree though that his energy and pick and roll skill is making it quite possible he’ll land on a roster somewhere in the league.

The parity throughout the NBA right now in terms of star power balance is something we haven’t seen in a long time. It’s fair to say, I think we’ve seen the end of the Warriors dynasty. Finally.

Lakers just signed DeMarcus Cousins to a 1-year deal. So, since the news of Kawhi going to the Clippers, they’ve inked Danny Green as a veteran shooter and energy guy and a center in Cousins.

I never figured Cacok to play the 5 if he is able to land a roster spot so there is still hope. Definitely interesting to see what keeps unfolding in Los Angeles, as that is still his best option for now to make an NBA roster.

Cacok 2nd in scoring at 14.5 ppg, 1st in rebounding at 9 rpg, and 1st in steals at 1.5 pg, with the 5th most minutes played.on the Lakers summer league team so far. Pretty impressive. Lakers Twitter posted a nasty alley oop dunk of Cacok titled "Your daily Devontae Cacok dunk highlight".

The Good

– Devontae Cacok is an absolute beast. Whenever he checks into the game he makes his presence immediately known with impact plays on both ends of the floor. He is still incredibly raw both offensively and defensively but has an infectious energy you simply cannot teach. Expect the Lakers to try and groom him in the G-League before eventually letting him have a crack at the NBA level possibly as soon as next season.

Really needs to figure out the fouls. Good thing you can't foul out in summer league. Averaging over 10 fouls/per 40 minutes in the Vegas Summer league

Only if he were to ever become a starter. As a role player it won't be a big deal unless he's committing fouls in big situations.

It is what it is. His style of play and the NBA's propensity to call fouls on non-stars will always lend itself to fouls. He's likely never going to clean up that aspect of his play.

Lol, if you've watched him play you can tell there is no limit. He grab a player and lazy foul to stop a score. Fouls he would normally not commit.

That’s awesome. I’m assuming he still would need to make their roster, but this gets him to camp and then the Lakers own his rights in the D League with potential call up?

DC has one of the best high post pick and roll alley oops in the game. It's a shame that disappeared the last two years at UNCW. It's his bread and butter for the Lakers and they set him up for it non stop.

Agree, but not gonna focus on the past. Hopefully the coaches see it and make adjustments to fit their players going forward. No coaches are perfect, and I’m sure they’re seeing that success he’s having. Hope those adjustments are made.

What a great player Cacok is.

Exactly. A great player but a far better human being. God bless him and his family as they continue to work toward his goal and reap the deserved rewards!

RE: DC12- LA Lakers Summer League
One thing that's really cool is that he will get a chance to be on the floor practicing/playing with Lebron, Davis, etc. in training camp. A real legit chance to demonstrate that he can be a piece of the puzzle there.

I sure sounds as if the organization really wants to find a place for him. I have read several quotes describing him as being "raw"...so I would be (pleasantly) surprised to see him initially make the Lakers roster. But I based on what we have seen and read so far, it sounds as if they have figured out how he can contribute - and if he ends up on the G League team he would have a great chance of being called up at some point in the season.

https://twitter.com/LakerFilmRoom/status...83425?s=20

The Lakers signed both Devontae Cacok and Aric Holman to Exhibit 10 contracts. That means they'll be invited to Training Camp, they'll probaby be cut before the season starts, & the Lakers will likely assign them to South Bay. It's a way to keep players you like in your system.

RE: DC12- LA Lakers Summer League
Awesome news for DC. While he's still a long shot to break camp with the big squad in October signing the Exhibit 10 deal keeps that hope alive. The Exhibit 10 can be turned into a two-way deal if he impresses at training camp. A two-way deal means a player can spend time between the G-League and NBA, while not exceeding 45 days (I think) with the big squad. The Exhibit 10 and two-way deals are rather new and are in an effort to make the G-League a "true" minor league.

"Because he’s more of an undersized guy, he’s probably gonna have to play like a small-ball five, like a Kenneth Faried type,” Simon said. “I think he can really flourish in that role because he rolls to the rim. He runs the floor, he defends at a pretty good level right now. And then he’s an elite rebounder."
From that article. I believe someone here has been saying this for a long time
