Are you seriously asking that question?

Never doubted Cacok, only the NBA’s willingness to accept a player with his particular skillset.

Glad to see him showcasing what he can do.

This.

Ain't no doubters in Seahawk Nation when it comes to DC. He needs to keep doing what he does best and somebody will pick him up. If he could just develop the ability to face up, drive to the basket and finish, he'd land in the NBA immediately.

Both ‘08 and 82 nailed it for me here too. I don’t doubt the man, EVER. The doubt is placed 100% on the system but it’s great to see DC playing well and really on the perfect team personnel wise for him to land a roster spot. As a Lakers fan myself, I’m 110% partial, but we should all be hoping they sign Kawhi as that sets up his best chance to get to the big time.

I think he was the best all around player on the court last night. Filled the box score, and man has his perimeter defense improved in the last few months. That's gonna be key with all the switching that happens in the NBA.

Cacok plays his best defense when the team is engaged in 3/4 or full court defense. It allows his athleticism to thrive defensively and his energy to just go off the charts. Saddens me that McGrath never really figured that out or was too stubborn to utilize it.

Hold on. Let me get a better seat for this fencing match. Moving down to the front row and taking notes.

Lakers fall behind early. Cacok comes in and they actually take a lead while he's in. They take him out and they fall behind again. What's wrong with this picture?

RE: DC12- LA Lakers Summer League
Lakers Summer League Standouts, Devontae Cacok Among 3 Rising Stars

By far the biggest standout performer on the Lakers so far has been Devontae Cacok. While he hasn’t led the team in scoring, he has provided an electric burst of energy and hits the glass incredibly well despite his usual size disadvantage. Listed only at 6’7″ but asked to play the center due to the Lakers’ lack of size, Cacok has thrived as he possesses excellent athleticism and consistently outworks his opponents down low.

He is undoubtedly a raw player and takes advantage of the generous foul rules the Summer League allows – something he needs to work on to be successful at the professional level. However, his athleticism and motor give him an intriguing upside that the Lakers are going to be more than likely willing to take a gamble on.

Looking to be cut from the Montrezl Harrell school of interior players, Cacok has an extremely bright future with the Lakers if he can continue to play with the same tenacity moving forward. Signed to an Exhibit 10 deal, don’t be surprised to see Cacok dominate the G-League and possibly work his way onto the Lakers’ roster in a year or two.

NBA Summer League: The best and worst performances from Day 2

Devontae Cacok, Lakers

20 minutes: 16 points (8-of-12 FG), 12 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 assists, 2 blocks

Cacok made quite an impact in his second game in Sacramento with the Lakers. The undrafted product from UNC Wilmington dominated on both ends of the floor, tallying 16 points, 12 rebounds, five steals and two blocks.

What was evident watching Cacok on Tuesday was his energy level. He was active on both ends of the floor and helped lead the Lakers to a win after struggling Monday night against the Heat.

Given the state of the Lakers at the moment, the team may need to add players on minimum contracts so a strong outing in Summer League for Cacok, or others, could go a long way in securing a place on the team.

Devontae Cacok is another player that looked impressive in the California Classic. An undersized and high-motor big man, Cacok consistently hit the boards hard while providing ballhandlers an easy outlet down low. He looks to be a player who can become an effective small-ball center and could eventually work himself into a quality role for the Lakers off the bench.

Did see Cacok receive a pass, dribble to the basket and finish with a dunk in the last game. Maybe stretching his game a bit this summer on offense. That dunk made their highlight reel.

Plays better with more room to operate. Hope that they give him or somebody gives him a good shot in the next year or 2. Homeboy is playing some ball and it will get noticed.

RE: DC12- LA Lakers Summer League
Cacok will not be the center of attention in the NBA so he won't ever have to deal with double teams. And if you cover him with one man, he is going to pound the boards, grab rebounds and get putbacks at a high percentage. You can tell the Lakers coach has keyed on Cacok as a high post player and uses his pick and roll capability to force opponents to cover him on the roll or pay the price.

You've got to believe if the Lakers don't see his value, the teams playing agaiinst him do.

So far (and it's obviously super early) Cacock has been the most consistent bright spot on the summer league team. The comments of his coach and of commentators have sounded an awful lot like what UNCW fans have said and heard for years.

He has really been helping himself.
