The DC we've all come to know and love!

"Because he’s more of an undersized guy, he’s probably gonna have to play like a small-ball five, like a Kenneth Faried type,” Simon said. “I think he can really flourish in that role because he rolls to the rim. He runs the floor, he defends at a pretty good level right now. And then he’s an elite rebounder."
From that article. I believe someone here has been saying this for a long time

It's a shock to me. I figured he'd be more like Steph Curry.....

RE: DC12- LA Lakers Summer League
Good fit for him. AD is one of the few true centers so DC would seemingly fit well there with his current skillset as a back up. Hope he makes the teams. Developing a longer shot would go a long way in today's NBA (Yes I am aware you all already know this)

RE: DC12- LA Lakers Summer League
Los Angeles Lakers: Summer League MVP is Devontae Cacok

Devontae Cacok is the Lakers Summer League MVP. He averaged 11.8 points, on 62.3% shooting, nine rebounds, 1.2 assists and two steals per game. Cacok is a two-way player. He gives it his all when on the basketball court on the defensive offensive end. If he forms an outside game, he will be tough to guard.

Cacok reminds me of Montrezl Harrell. An energy guy who does not give up, and plays hard as long as he is on the basketball court. If the Lakers give Cacok an opportunity in the NBA, he will show his teammates, fans, and the front office what he’s made of.

RE: DC12- LA Lakers Summer League
Five Undrafted Rookies That Impressed During Vegas Summer League

Devontae Cacok - Lakers

Sticking with the Lakers Summer League squad, the UNC Wilmington alum shined in both the Sacramento and Las Vegas versions of the event. In Nevada, the 6’7 forward flirted with a double-double as he put up 11.8 points, 9 rebounds and 2 steals on 62% from the field in only 23 minutes per game. That solid production largely came from him working as a classic big through shining as a roll man, running in transition and crashing the offensive glass.

Despite being considered undersized for that role, he excelled by doing a great job of finishing at the rim or with floaters. In addition to that, the forward was able to use a 240 pound frame to shine on the offensive glass as he snagged 4 offensive boards per game. One trait that it seems like Cacok has improved upon since graduating is facilitating as he threw some pretty post-up feeds to a cutting Dakota Mathias late in the game against Golden State.

Due to his impressive play in Summer League, Cacok left Vegas a recipient of an exhibit 10 deal. That means the UNC Wilmington alum would be able to receive up to $50,000 if he spends time with the Lakers in training camp, gets waived and then plays two months with the South Bay Lakers. In addition to that, the Lakers could also decide to transfer that contract into a two-way between now and the end of training camp.
