RE: Would the MAC accept a UConn and UMass package with minimum TV or CFP Money

Since AAC football began in 2013, UConn has played host to just 6 ranked teams. All 6 teams that visited UConn were there because of UConns AAC conference schedule. UConn played a total of 12 ranked teams home and away during that period. The UConn AAC schedule accounted for 9 of them. They arent just going to be replacing Tulane, ECU, and Tulsa. There were some good games on those conference schedules as well---and the fact that not a single ranked team from outside the AAC visited Hartford during those 5 years doesnt bode particularly well for replacing those better games as an indy.
Eh, to an extent. It's as much about the current state of UConn's program as anything, but this past year there were 15k people in the stands for the season-opener against a ranked UCF team coming off an undefeated season (and if I remember correctly, the weather was fine), aka about as strong of a draw as an AAC opponent can be. Sure, the football program getting back to .500ish would do more than anything to solve those attendance issues, but the Indianas and Dukes and Illinois of the world largely register in Connecticutas just as much of a major game as a ranked AAC team, perhaps moreso. If you're trading off some games against a ranked UCF or USF team but get back a game a Pitt or Rutgers, it very well may be a push.

The CFP is $85 million for the G5, which is $17 million per conference. But they allocate more to the more successful conferences-with a ratio of-5/15, 4/15, 3/15, 2/15 and 1/15. Realistically, the MAC will almost always be one of the bottom 3. So 2/15 of $85 million is less than $1 million per school. The TV is $8 million per year or $667k per school.
Thank you.
Also it could be a deal with the MAC that develops over an extended period. For instance a deal is in struck in 2024 to expand the CFP and more $$$. UConn is missing out even more on money by the time the next deal rolls around.

About half of the MAC doesn't have potential winning big in BB and FB but so what.
AAC everyone has athletic potential but too much competition for a G5 conference. That TV deal is big time though with the ABC/CBS exposure.
UConn sets up a scheduling contract with the ACC for 3-6 games for OBE regional rivals Pitt, Syracuse, BC, and VT, plus Miami for a game in Florida every other year. The rest of the ACC schools move in and out over the years and UConn has a better nugget than using the MAC and CUSA for games other than filler. Set up annual games with BYU, NM ST, Army, and Liberty, schedule an FCS (BE foe Villanova) and a money game or 2 with other P5 schools and UConn can come up with a great independent schedule. Also don't forget Temple and Rutgers for regional play to help fill out the schedule. This of course will take several years to implement but it is not impossible to if UConn stays in the AAC for 2 years to get by the 2020 FB scheduling difficulties. According to the BE contract they have until July 1, 2022 to make the move anyway.
There is literally zero interest among ACC fans in playing UConn. There will be no "scheduling alliance" with the conference. What individual AD's want to do is, of course, up to them. But if the fans have any influence over scheduling, UConn would be wise not to count on many games against ACC opponents. UConn began burning bridges loooong before this latest episode with the American.

I don’t mind UNC playing UConn, especially in football and hoops where the Heels have their number.

But UConn is going back to the BE now so it is YOU who are in trouble on the hardwood!
