This year Hawaii plays 8 home games

What’s in it for these MWC schools to play a 13th game...vs UConn?
H&H’s in Men’s and Women’s basketball
This could work
Hell, neutral court some one offs in Vegas between UNLV/Nevada/SDSU/New Mexico/Utah St vs UConn/Nova/Georgetown/Butler/Creighton(In Vegas) and some other big east teams.
This is more doable than people like to admit due to the “Hawaii exception”

They'll have to get creative in the first year or two of independence because of the short notice. Honestly would not be surprised if there were multiple FCS opponents on the schedule for a season or two. Once you get through that difficult first stretch they'll be okay putting together a schedule for as long as they care to keep playing.

RE: UConn Indy: schedule all the MWC teams who can play a 13th game
The trick in 2020 is to get 2 teams that are playing each other, to agree to both play UConn instead.

For example, Liberty is scheduled to play at Sryacuse on Oct 17 in 2020. Maybe Liberty could agree to play at UConn instead and Syracuse could agree to host UConn on Oct 17 instead. Since Liberty is an independent, they could play at UConn in early December or maybe they could find another open date. Syracuse will pay Uconn what was going to pay Liberty and UConn will pay Liberty what Syracuse was going to pay Liberty.
