MyBB Rockets in Pro Basketball
I thought we had a thread on this already, but couldn't find one, so here's a new one. I was prompted to create this when I accidentally came across an article about former Rocket Neil Watson signing with a new team ...

in Iraq.

Who knew Iraq had a professional BBall league, let alone having Americans among the players. Neil is playing for Al Shurtah Police Team, which as far as I can figure plays in Baghdad.

Nathan Boothe - EWE Baskets, Germany
Tre'Shaun Fletcher - Salt Lake City Stars
Jonathan Williams - Aalstar, Belgium
Steve Taylor - Duzce Belediye, Turkey
Dan Dzierzawski - Hamilton Drip, Canada
Lucas Antunez - Tormes, Spain

Lucas Atunez???? Hard to believe... he was absolutely terrible at UT. Must be a low level league

Go Rockets!!!

How many combined games did Dzierzawski, Watson and Antunes play? Maybe fifteen? Did Watson ever make an appearance? You could make a pretty good team out of the rest though.

I don't ever remember seeing Watson on a roster, much less in a game. Was he one of the disastrous players brought in as part of Gene Cross' revolving door?

Coach Cross on Watson:
"Neil can shoot the ball and is lightning quick. He gets up and down the floor quickly and plays in a different gear."

Watson redshirted at UT in Cross's final season. Was reportedly released by Coach K. He ended up at Southern MIss via Coffeyville CC. Had a great career at SoMiss, scoring 1100+ points, 470+ assists, 290 rebounds and 160 steals in 3 seasons. His teams there averaged 29 wins a season. SoMiss beat UT in the NIT his senior year.

Here's a story that talks about his time at Toledo.
