It's a downgrade for them and they'd lose Florida recruiting.

That looks like a terrible conference. Far weaker than the AAC.

And how is that fertile recruiting ground of Florida working for Miami & Florida St, Texas for Texas & California for USC, UCLA & Stanford.

JMU fans are gonna flip **** that you didn’t add them in this hypothetical conference. But they may be too busy waiting for that AAC invite.

UCONN immediately became a P5 when they left the AAC and joined the Big East

They're in the basketball "P6" now, but their football is most certainly not going to end up in a power conference.

ODU might not want anything to do with that mess 03-puke03-banghead03-banghead but i can see us being part of CUSA East + Appy, GaSouth and GaSt.

How can the ECU leave the AAC for that "New Conference", when Marshall wouldn't leave the CUSA Eastern Division if offered a guaranteed spot in that conference lineup.

If you could get past all the insane hurdles of ECU paying 10 million dollars to leave the AAC, the NCAA giving that new league an auto bid to the NCAA tournament, somehow that new league being given access to the G5 money and access bowl slot, and whatever other things I'm forgetting Marshall probably would actually join that conference. I actually do think if realignment broke a certain level of wrong for ECU you could see some kind of east coast non-power FBS conference formed, and a lot of the teams mentioned would probably be a part of it, but that's never going to happen because ECU willingly left a fully intact AAC to make it happen.

People wanting to jump on the UConn conference alignment news bandwagon, but lacking any actual conference alignment news to work with.

I don't think it would. Don't forget to work out where Marshall is going to lie in terms of divisional alignment, and the fact that Marshall left the MAC East for the CUSA East ... and even if CUSA East was later raided, had no interest in returning when the MAC was looking for a 14th in case UMass take the "all in" side of the "all in or all out" ultimatum.

It's not in a division with a road trip to Florida every year by accident ... that's on purpose.

Put yourself in Marshall's shoes, and compare:

Charlotte, ODU, Marshall, Middle Tennessee, WKY, FAU/FIU

UMass, UConn, Buffalo, Marshall, ODU, Liberty

The other division in this hypothetical "East Coast Conference" may well be more interesting to it than the CUSA West, but when you only make one cross division trip a year, the makeup of "the other division" is not as big a deal.
