Capital Campaign Committee
Got a letter in my email. You all probably did too. Two from athletic department on committee

Dear Alumni and Supporters,

As we head into 2019-20 we are building on the success of two record years
of private support for The University of Toledo. Thank you for your incredible support!

We know that philanthropy is key to achieving our goals and we have experienced much success under the leadership of Cheryl Zwyer. I look forward to her continued leadership of the development and annual giving teams in her role as Senior Associate Vice President for Development.

As we prepare for our next capital campaign, I have created a campaign leadership team to lead this effort - Cheryl, Mike O'Brien and Dave Nottke. The addition of these long-time campus leaders with strong ties to Rocket Nation will help ensure a successful comprehensive fundraising campaign to support future generations of Rockets. Mike and Dave will continue in their leadership roles in Athletics while supporting the institution's comprehensive campaign.

Thank you for your continued support of UToledo. Your generosity powers
our success by advancing discovery and providing opportunity to all.

Sincerely,

signature of Dr. Gaber

Sharon L. Gaber

Ain't no part of some f-in Rocket "Nation."

Marketing people have a book they share or something, don't they? How does this conversation go?

Hey people, page 121 "Row the ." NOOOOOO. Ok Ok uh page 316, "Blah Nation." Yeah, everyone's using that. Let's join.

Can't they just say we're "Rockets" instead of joining that anachronistic train?

I hate "Blah Nation" too. When everyone says it, it loses its luster. Same with "Blah Strong" every time there is a tragedy.

I was on the "not with the program" side in the "glass city" thread too but like my thoughts on that John Block make-up for the city (He probably made the one for the university, lol), there was no need to jump on this Nation crap. .

College Sports Team Nicknames

ONE Rocket
ONE University of Toledo Rockets.

Market THAT

Accept no imitations

This is right in OBrien's and Nottke's wheel house. I do think this should be a focus for them and they should bring in someone young and highly driven to take over day-to-day operations of the athletics.

Normally the public part of the campaign, which we are obviously in now, doesn't start until about 50% of the goal has been raised. UT has a large development staff who run the campaign. O'Brien and Nottke are now the public faces to get the 'smaller" donations after the big hitters have been identified.

I believe UT's goal is $250M, which to me is disappointing. BG is more that a year from finishing up a $200M campaign and has raised $193M. They will obviously be way over their goal. UT's goal should be at least twice that.

I just hope someone writes a check for Glass Bowl lights before a baseball field for a team with no interest in recruiting talent

I agree! and stop scheduling FCS schools like Murray State. Like Boise State: we should play anybody, anywhere, rather than FCS

That’s definitely a priority as well. It’s not a stadium if it doesn’t have lights. Hopefully they keep the soccer lights on during night football games to light up campus like all the other good DI programs do.
