One thing's for sure, if we did not land this kid there were plenty of other suitors that would've. This social media stuff involving "sexting" between MINORS is not uncommon. Doesn't make it right but it happens a lot. The kid didn't assault anyone, breaking and entering, theft, vandalism, selling weed, etc. He made a mistake and he's owned up to it. Move on and get it done on/off the court and in the classroom.

I guess the University needed to put out the press release they did because of expectation that this type of hit pieces would follow. I don't know this kid but trust Brannen thinks it was a dumb youthful mistake and maybe it is just me but I feel that he doesn't think he is taking a big gamble on Harvey.

Just me again but it annoys me when a writer says he is only the sixth top fifty player in UC "history". That is taking some arbitrary date or modern rating system maybe only going back to the eighties or so. In the fifties, sixties and seventies the Bearcats had probably a couple dozen or more top fifty recruits.

Not even going back that far. It's not counting wingfield, flint, fortson, dermarr, or satterfield.

Weren't Burton and Marko Wright also top 50? Im pretty sure at least one of those two were like, #35 or thereabouts.

The original charges involved quite a bit more than what you indicate. It was alleged in the charges that he tried to coerce the young lady into performing sex acts.

Via the plea bargain, he was never convicted of that. To be sure, there was more than “you show me yours and I’ll show you mine” going on.

Yeah there are so many of the rating services that we could list many who were on one or another. The main thing is I enjoyed Decoursey years ago when he covered the Bearcats but he knows their history well enough that it is idiotic to say Harvey is their "sixth" in history. Definitely a writer with an agenda.

Was it Decoursey who put out the un named sources piece that UC offered Mick a pay cut?

Not really. He was a 16 year old with nekkid pics of a 15 year old he was bumping uglies with. Then a law intended to punish predators was misapplied by an overzealous prosecutor to damn near ruin the kid’s life. So if there’s a story here, it’s about abuse of process.
There isn't information about what exactly happened out there. I'm surprised it's even a known thing as it's a misdemeanor for someone under the age of 18 and was committed when the person was 16.

It could be as serious as either taking a screenshot of the picture that the 15 year old sent out via Snapchat or receiving it from someone else, sending it to other people, and then asking the girl to do stuff with him.

It could be as ridiculous as this girl sending him a Snapchat and him asking to do stuff with her.

He shouldn't have done it, but a pissed parent could easily ruin someone's life because their daughter decided to send out a nude.

Yep! He's also the guy who didnt write articles when Mick signed a young man who threw his girlfriend down a staircase or let a kid come back who reportedly punched three people (including a woman) at a night club whole he was a player here.

Well he’s been on the record saying that no coach except Mick can win and recruit at UC, so he has to spin it somehow.

I lost any respect for DeCourcy after the article that clearly was out of MC's camp about money. Screw him. He banned my Twitter because I called him out. No respect for him anymore. Funny enough, he used to tweet with GPS info turned on. You could see his house. I told him to turn it off and he thanked me.

Wonder if he will write articles for Mickyboy at UCLA after Mick still can't recruit (to the level the fans there expect). He is already being told 'no, I don't want to play in a rock fight' system out there...according to Pesik on the main board.

He was 16 and the girl was 15 at the time. What the heck does "encourage" mean? He asked? He dared? He said if you don't I'll show the pictures to other dudes? What was the girl's culpability in all of this? Again, I'm not defending the act I'm simply saying that there was a heckuva a lot worse things that this kid could've done.

Agreed. How many 16 year old boys ask girls to perform sexual acts? We don’t know the details of this case but I’m willing to give him and Coach Brannen the benefit of the doubt. They have said they are working with him to ensure he gets the guidance he needs and that he will be held to the highest of standards, even higher than other student athletes.

I also have to wonder if this kid ended up picking Kentucky, Ohio State, or any number of other big programs if there would be these types of stories.

All I can say is I am damn glad social media wasn't a thing while I was in HS. 16 year old boys are really stupid and really immature, but it also happens to be the same time that their Johnsons begin working and they have no idea what to do with them.

In a situation like this, you have to be able to distinguish between a really poor decision, such as this case versus a really evil decision such as actually assaulting a female and taking it to the next level. I'm going to choose to chalk this up as boys will be boys and sounds like he understands what he dod was wrong.

However, I totally get Bohn and UC treading very carefully on this, with the #metoo era we are living in. One bad mistake and careers could be ruined.

To be sure? Really? Where's your proof? Not sure what commie infested remote location you're posting from. But here, in America, you're innocent until proven guilty. If the original charges were so self-evident why did they take a plea deal?

What was it that Lance Stephenson got in trouble for in HS? I feel it was something similar. I'm not condoning anything but it sounds like Harvey was punished and has grown since. Hopefully that is the case and Brannen (and we) don't have to hear about this incident again.

Groping a 17 year old after school on high school grounds with another male student. Then he threw his girlfriend down a staircase and bashed her head against a handrail a week after his last game here.

If every recruit who received a BJ and a nudie pic from one of their HS peers were not allowed to play CBB the sport would have to fold due to no available players. If we didn’t sign him, somebody dy else would have. If XU signed this kid Mo and DeCourcey would not have said squat, and Paul Daugherty would be writing about how Sister Rose was going to turn this kid into a
future Nobel Prize winner and the XU coaching staff would make him him a legend in the court.
