Transfer Rules Amended
NCAA announced upcoming changes to the transfer rules which may calm things down in the transfer portal.

The changes address 4 types of waiver requests:
Athletes who...
*no longer have opportunities to play at their original school.
*are victims of egregious behavior that impacts their health and well being.
*transfer because of an immediate family member's health
*want to be closer to home because of their own illness (including mental health).

Waiver requests now require statements from their original school's athletic director explaining the athlete's reasoning.

Waiver requests for athletes who can no longer participate (I'm assuming this means disciplinary issues) must outline whether the athlete...
*could return to their team
*was dismissed
*the athlete's academic standing, and
*the reason the athlete wants to transfer

If an athlete's new institution cannot document these areas waver requests will be denied.

In cases of family member's health, requests must be made immediately after a family member's diagnosis and the new school must be located within 100 miles of their home or the ill family member.

In cases of the athlete's own health the athlete must show documentation from a medical professional of their illness/injury and that they were being treated before transferring.

this won't stem the tide of transfers but it may slow things down a little
