RE: UConn gave up for women's basketball
Right now, UConn Women's basketball is hot. At times, the Men's basketball and football are hot. There is a good chance, the women's basketball want back in Big East.

But, why do they want to go to Big East?

The biggest issue they're immediately facing is the fact that they've got to fill 8 football spots for 2020, and I think I saw where there are next to no FBS schools with open dates, if any.

It's not as hot as it was. Other teams are starting to catch up to them. They have been to the Final 4 the last 3 years but no championship after they won 4 in a row.

While it is way out there, just like Notre Dame plays ACC in some sports but not all, wonder if UConn women could play ACC

As an AAC member, I’d be OK with letting UConn stay in the AAC while letting their women’s basketball play in the BE or ACC. They REALLY have zero competition in the AAC and it does nobody any good to have 40-50 point margins almost every time out.

Every school in the conference has failed to capitalize on a golden opportunity to build women's basketball. It's a shame. Memphis leads the pack in failing.

We had a top 25 recruiting class this year.

I think the women are perfectly happy going to the BEast. If bball is driving the move, wouldn't make much sense to put one in a different conference.

Nah. They have always wanted out, so let them out. With a $10M+ fee, of course.

If I'm not mistaken Uconn women are undefeated in AAC conference play since joining.

They should drop football or go back to FCS

And I suspect they will

Ironically, the nBE WBB is no better than the AAC. The issues that led UConn to this move have to be more associated with admin/staff preferences, donor/fan preferences, perceived traditional opponents, OTA TV access in NE, and debt associated with FB since UConn revenues will decrease in the nBE.

Yeah, women's basketball.

That'll put the butts in the seats.

RE: UConn gave up for women's basketball
Such short siteness by the UConn admin. The contract.differences is about 3 to 4 million less in the BE per team. When Geno retires what do they think will happen to the women's team? They will definitely take a step back and then what. Your mens basketball team was near bottom last year and your football team was the worst team in AAC the past couple of years. Now they dont have any games for the 2020 and 2021 year for football now. I believe they thought AAC was going to let them keep football in the AAC. LOL. No shot at bowl games really and what recruits will want to play for their football team now with all the uncertainty.

They are giving up on future football conference expansion, good for them, and us, I guess.

Seems to me their AC must be RC in disguise.
