I think Ben will be part of the starting lineup next year.

I hope you are right. We really need to upgrade the three point shooting and Johnson seems like a good start. From what I have seen, Johnson has nearly unlimited range and he seems to have a cocky attitude about shooting from long, which is great. Add more minutes for Devault and you will see BU taking more 3's.

RE: Recruiting class
Was surprised, and pleased, to see Mudd is on the Kentucky All-Star team taking on (these days, usually losing to) Indiana in June.

I focused on Johnson when looking at what the future Knights were up to and figured Mudd was just a local guy who might be on academic scholarship; maybe I've underestimated the guy.

Interesting.

Admittedly I don't really know anything about him, but he appears undersized (6'ish and 165-170 lbs.) and wasn't heavily recruited:
http://www.dailyjournal.net/2021/01/22/h...rove-boys/

Suppose he might be a walk-on/academic scholarship guy.

On the positive side, seems there might be a little C.J. Fleming-ish potential there.

This looks like just what the doctor ordered. An athletic point guard who can score and defend. His most impressive stat is 3.1 steals per game. This is 4A Indiana basketball, which is probably as good as high school basketball gets. He went for 19 points in his last couple of playoff games against very good competition, so he can score and he can dish with 5.5 apg.

Indeed. As you know, Jeffersonville High has been good to BU before.

Saw where Bova signed his LOI. He seems like a good player, but my concern is that he represents a skill set that we already have, especially in Ben Johnson. Guess I am getting concerned about getting some bigs that can play D1 defense, something we have zero of.

Yeah, they hyped the signing yesterday -- several social media posts.

I'm with you and hoping that we see some recruits with the magic combo of D-I size and defensive skills.

In the NoDribble video a couple of shots of Scotty speaking were taken from this podcast

https://basketballimmersion.com/the-bask...davenport/

In the podcast he talks at length about recruiting and taking only players that fit his sytem.
Time will tell how that works but my guess is teams esp. ASUN will be better prepared for our offense.

Not trying to be too negative but I noticed toward the last few games in the ASUN last year, the defenses had seen enough of Scotty's pass first offense and knew what was coming. The last 3 or 4 games we seemed to resort to Pedro going one on one to the basket as the only alternative as the shot clock started running out.

Saw that -- seems like a stellar pickup.

I used to live in the Carmel area, and CHS has a good program (having a student enrollment of approximately a "gazillion" certainly helps them win titles, in many sports).

RE: Recruiting class
I believe it is fair to be very concerned about next year. Only two LOI with Bova (a 6' PG) and Sudder (6'4' SG). We have gotta get some size as you just cant be successful over the long haul being essentially last in rebounding in the NCAA.

(i have no inside information, scoop or anything) but with Scotties ties to UofL I wonder if they could pry away someone like JJ Traynor from the Cards? He did not get much playing time this year and has some size and athleticism we could use.

Just gotta add some size.

Indeed. Plus some athleticism, which I think will become more important as opponents "figure out" the unique BU offense.

Four guards and Hopf is not a formula for success for the next couple of years. Might work in DII but not DI

Saw this not too long ago and been meaning to post it: 6'2" class of 2024 PG Drae Vasser of Louisville (apparently played at Jeffersontown HS and transferring to Trinity) has an offer from BU (as well as Jax State):
