RE: Interesting poll
In particular, every college basketball game matters during the regular season. And every game matters during the postseason.

In the NBA teams and players literally take games off and don't give a s*** about certain regular season games. They turn up in the playoffs but whatever.

The ratings for the NCAA title game and game 6 of the NBA finals were essentially the same this year.

RE: Interesting poll
It's a one-game championship.

I prefer college basketball over the NBA, but there is no doubt college basketball's relevancy is hurting these days outside of the Tournament.

Neilsen is hurting for legitimacy too. I manage a bar. We had maybe five people show up just to watch the Tournament final. I had no fewer than twenty people come in every NBA Finals game, with games five and six eclipsing at least forty.

I prefer NBA to college basketball because of superior talent. It's kind of frustrating watching college players not being able to execute basic moves. I prefer college football over the NFL. NFL can be boring because the defenses are too good sometimes.

RE: Interesting poll
Top NCAA matchups regularly outperform NBA games of the week when it comes to tv viewership. A quick analysis of ratings from Sports Media Watch shows that during the 2019 calendar year (after college football season), regular season games average 1.9M viewers for college basketball versus 1.8M for NBA. This was done averaging about 30 random games for both NBA and college.

Playoffs, tournament, and (especially) Christmas games are different.

Here's a newsflash - the vast, vast majority of NBA regular season games are in-market only.

College basketball is national.

I guess I'm the outlier. I've always preferred college over pro sports. Even in the heyday of the NBA

RE: Interesting poll
If this is true I wonder why the NBA makes so much more money than the college game.

Do all the advertisers and TV executives and paying fans have it wrong?

Maybe they do, but i haven't been to an NBA game in about 3 years and the last time I went to an NFL game was when we had an exhibition game art the Liberty Bowl

Here's a newsflash. The comparison at the website is only on national games. That's why I clearly said "games of the week". And it's why I listed the source - which includes only TNT, ABC, ESPN games for the NBA.

Besides, you think NBA is only regional and NCAA is only national? That's a bit backwards.

Denial. It's not just a river in downtown Memphis.

RE: Interesting poll
Polls are funny critters. A lot depends on who was asked. I am pretty sure there are 10s of millions of people from: New York, Boston, Philadelphia, DC, Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay area, etc. who would disagree and choose the NBA. What is clear in this poll is that most of the people who were asked don't. Do you think maybe it was taken in a college sports chat board?
