As one Food Network host said, Nothing unites Americans like their love of barbeque and nothing divides them like trying to define what barbeque is.

Ha, true. I was born and raised in Memphis and thought pulled pork and ribs were the only way to go. But since trying Texas and KC brisket, I have decided late in life that I love both, lol.

Absolutely!

Grew up on the near cousin Arkansas Delta which just generally means more vinegar in the sauce than Memphis. Now of my favorite places, one is in Kansas City and another in Dallas. I just like barbeque.

I blew some minds on Reddit one day throwing out a mention of barbeque spaghetti. Lot of people thought it was a joke.

Nothing better than smoked chicken.

Have you had smoked chicken with white BBQ sauce? It'll change your life.

Truth! The last time we went to the Birmingham Bowl (and after considerable arm twisting to not get ribs or brisket at the usual haunts), I tried this and it truly was amazing.

My problem is I like damn near every kind of BBQ, so just picking one to get is damn near impossible.

I just ate BBQ spaghetti at The BBQ Shop in Memphis. First time. It was delicious. Not the best thing on the menu (that was the ribs), but really delicious. Better than the pulled pork, actually.

I'm normally pretty open minded about every kind of food but the thought of mayo bbq sauce makes me want to vomit. I'm not huge on BBQ chicken to begin with but I happened to try some that my dad ordered yesterday from Miller's Smokehouse in Belton, TX. It was incredible, I've never had chicken that tasted so good. Their brisket is amazing too. Great place with a well deserved spot in the Texas Monthly top 10 BBQ joints in TX.

I highly recommend Twin Oaks BBQ on Norwich Street in Brunswick, Georgia. The meat is simply outstanding and they are generous with it. They've been in business since WWII at the same location. Battered French fries are not for heart patients, and the sides are solid. They do chicken as well.

Thanks JR, I often stop in Brunswick for meals and overnight stays on my FL to NY runs. If I'm in a hurry and traveling by myself I usually stop at Sonny's for a sliced pork sammich and salad bar. Twin Oaks looks like a good option if I ever go through around lunch time.It appears they are only open for lunch

I miss Commissary BBQ in Germantown. One of you Memphis guys got me hooked on it. Best ribs ever.

Best "fast food" chain BBQ out there. I usually grab the daily special. They also will offer discounts (military, first responder, etc...).

Another chain BBQ place is Bill Miller's in San Antonio/Austin/Corpus Christi area. It is a little more cafeteria style. Still good when you are in a hurry.

I had the Commissary pulled pork a few weeks ago. Just average. Haven't tried the ribs yet, but they have a new restaurant in Collierville, where my sister lives, so I'll try the ribs there before long.

Concur about Bill Miller's. It ain't what it was 40 years ago. If we go to a chain now it's Rudy's. https://rudysbbq.com/

Like both of the last two posters said, got Rudy's once (while getting gas on a road trip - and yes, ended up getting both kinds of gas!) and was quite impressed!

I had the brisket sandwich and my sister had the pulled pork, and we split them. The brisket was delicious, but the pulled pork was maybe the best we ever had, and we're from Memphis.

Odd, since it's a Texas chain, lol. We're going to New Mexico next month, and they have several out there.
The best places now do brisket and pork equally well.

Play argument with my wife for years. Georgia vs. South Texas. We love all smoked meats though. I am planning to do a brisket soon. Haven't in months.

Yeah, was a surprise to me, b/c I'm just now getting into brisket, and traveling in Texas and the southwest.

Bill Miller's is an institution in SA. It isn't the best BBQ (far from it) but it is still special as a unique TX place. You want awesome BBQ in the area you head to independent place.
